Hi,

I have Broadband Cable Connection from Honesty Net in Bhandup, Mumbai.
In my Laptop, I have setup my Static IP, Subnet Mask, Gateway, and DNS details given by them, and on using 24Online client, with my username and password, it happily connects to internet.

Now I have got new Wifi Router - D-Link DIR 600L
Trying to set up my router so that I do not need to enter 24Online userId/password from any device (laptop, mobile) to use the internet.
After some trials, the network icon at bottom says "Internet Access", but still I cannot open any website or use internet on my laptop or mobile.

Here is what I configured in router:
Connection Type: PPPoE
UserName:
password:
Service Name: HNSPPPOE (This I found in another thread https://broadband.forum/honesty-net-solutions/77460-pppoe-router-connection-timeout-errors.html)
IP address: 10.21.55.x (as given by honesty net)
MAC Address: (used Copy PC's MAC address button)
Primary DNS: (as given by honesty net)
Secondary DNS: (as given by honesty net)
MTU: 1492 (default value shown on configuration page, not sure what it is)
Connection Mode: Always

Please note: I do not get option to enter Default Gateway here. Honesty net has provided me a default gateway too, which is required to connect to internet using 24Online.

In my laptop, for IPv4 settings:
Obtain IP address automatically
Obtain DNS server address automatically

My Internet cable is connected to internet port in router. Have connected another cable from port1 of router to my laptop.

At this stage it says "Internet Access" for D-Link in network Icon, but I cannot open any websites or access internet.

There might be something wrong with one of these:
I do not have option to enter Default Gateway for PPPoE... this might be required somewhere
I have used service name as HNSPPPOE... this might be different
For Connection Type, other than PPPoE , router gives me 4 more options: Static IP, Dynamic IP, PPTP, and L2TP
Do I need to use one one of these and not PPPoE.
PPTP and L2TP give option to enter Default Gateway as well, but also need "Server IP Address". I do not have this value. Tried entering default gateway value for Server IP Address but was not able to connect to internet.

Customer care numbers are always busy 🙁 . Will try to ask them as well.
Any idea what might be missing? Please advise.

Thanks

Ok, Instead of PPPoE, I tried another connection type - Static IP. Here I enter all details along with Default Gateway. On my laptop, for IPv4 settings: Obtain IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically. After reboot of router, I get 24Online login page when I try to connect from laptop or mobile. And after that internet is accessible. So Wifi is working perfect.. except that I need to login to 24Online from one device every now and than..

I am using 1&1 ISP in Thane. But bandwidth is from Honesty Net. And PPPOE works well in my case. Try using 'hns' as service name in router settings and check if it works.
