Replacement remote for IPTV

hi guys,
has anyone bought a replacement remote for IPTV through ebay or someplace. I do NOT need TV remote functionality - only IPTV stb functionality.
I see couple of brands selling universal remotes (like Earthma, MEPL,etc.), but I dont know how to make sure that they are compatible with the set top box. Anyone have experience in this ?
My current remote is not working very well and airtel is making it difficult for me to buy a replacement remote.

I got my IPTV remote replaced several times when I had Airtel IPTV connection. I think the charges were 250 or 300 rupees. What shit have they done now?

I can buy a replacement remote from ebay for 200-300 bucks and have it delivered by tomorrow. For airtel, they will "arrange" for one - I have heard stories of it taking a couple of weeks.
I might as well buy it from the market !

Such a shame that they pretty much fucked up their best product offering.
