Always best to download the iso. I never seem to get full speed downloading via these installers.
 
so how exactly do you start upgrade from inside windows from an iso? (serious question i really have no clue)grr. i assume you get an executable on the disk created. the only ISOs i have been dealing with over the past couple of years is the ubuntu one. so got confused.
 
i generally associate iso images as bootable disks. you need to run the upgrade from inside windows to preserve your files and apps. that's why i got confused.
 
Okay! I am a bit confused too now, I have burned the ISO on a pen drive, is it going to give me an option to save files or not? 😀
 

you download the iso. you burn it on a pen/dvd drive. you can copy the iso to another location if you want to.
 
If you are running Windows 7, you can mount the iso by only double clicking on it. Thereafter, explore the contents via Explorer and run setup.
 
Doing it now, installing the preview then will upgrade to the full version as I don't want to download the whole setup again 😕I assume upgrade from preview to pro should be like the typical Windows Anytime Upgrade.

mounts would be dismounted on reboots. but i assume setup would process the files before the reboot so the mounted ISO might not be needed anymore?

Yes, it does. A temporary folder with required files is created in the drive Windows is being installed. That folder is deleted by setup once installation is complete.
 
righto. should have made the disk at that time. i actually got myself a spare usb drive last night for the same purpose. just got excited 😀 made a recovery disk out of that pen drive. now that i do not have a bootable disk right now.
 
lol. someone point me to the ISO file that is needed to create an installation media!
