Since Google Chromebooks are not arriving in India yet, I am considering going for this model.

Letsbuy price: 13,499
Flipkart price: 13,270

I guess there are discount coupons that can drop the Letsbuy price to 12499... But their delivery service sucks and I would probably have to drive all the way to the courier company's warehouse to get it.

What do you guys suggest?

If u can get it for 12499 then it works out to be cheaper even if u drive till the warehouse i guess. I dunno how close u r to the warehouse but i m assuming it won't cost u 1000 worth of petrol to drive there !!

the annoyance factor is worth more than 1000 bucks. the place is at such a cramped location, that i would have to take my bike. i was cursing letsbuy all the way when i drove to that place to get my friend's LG O1.

Use the ICICILB coupon on Letsbuy to get 1200 off, and use COD. However, from my what I have been observing of others' experiences, paying upfront ensures quicker delivery

if only letsbuy's courier company (blazeflash i think) delivered to my place 🙁 they had a simple excuse, my house was outside their delivery area. and it turned out to be a bloody mess.

Letsbuy mostly uses Bluedart. I hadn't heard of them using Blazeflash. If they do though, it is probably better not to order anything through them.

ah right. bluedart. i keep on confusing between them. in any case, i ordered through flipkart tonight. just wanted to give them a try too. 1000 bucks is good money but to risk a delayed delivery with a trip to bluedart warehouse? i had rather skip 2 movies this month. also, reliance guys did not arrive today. he had promised that he would get me the connection today. he loses his commission. i save 1500 bucks. (yet to see how airtel bills their alpha 3GB plan!).

Not good VFM, last time i went to Nehru Place, i saw the N150 with a dual core atom processor (N550) selling for 14.5k.

N150 was priced around 1.5k above.

i asked a friend in PC World. he said that the performance different is negligible. the intel processor used in it was a crappy release from intel to shut down the critics who were pressurizing them to launch a dual core atom processor.

plus it comes with windows 7 starters edition which is hopeless.

this one comes with freedos.

i plan to install google chrome os on it (there are some unofficial builds on it).

if that does not work out, i would probably just install ubuntu on it.

dad needs it for two things basically...

mail checking and keeping an eye on stocks and commodities.

so basically he just needs a browser. this was the reason i was planning to go for chromebooks. but from what i see, chromebooks are not expected to cost 10K in india. 🙂

i am just worried about the screen size because 10.1 is just too small.

btw. i also ordered this.

Transcend Jet Flash 700 USB 3.0 8 GB Pen Drive: Transcend Pen Drive: Price India: Flipkart Pen Drives

needed it for installation of OS on the netbook.

oh. i thought it was for you. For that usage i guess N455 should be more than sufficient.

that was the point. my friend also suggested a cheapo toshiba model. pentium dual core for around 19K with 15inch display... decided against it. largely because of the battery life. this one is expected to give 6-7-8 hours.

haha. too late for me. in any case, this one is like 10K more expensive compared to the model i purchased.

i don't get it. all product pages go to a website that seems to portray as if i am checking out Amazon.

i mean i understand amazon allows for brands to run their own store on amazon.com but this store is not running on amazon domain name!
