HiI had cable internet which i used to connect wirelessly using static ips given by the ISP. I recently got MTNL unlimited triband. Am able to access the internet when I connect the ethernet cable directly from the ADSL modem to the laptop. I wanted to use my personal wireless router DI 524 to connect to the internet, so here's what I did1. Went to the wireless router setup page on the WAN tab. Changed Dynamic to PPPoe. Put in the userid and password and i.e Phone number @a, Customer acc number2. Chose Dynamic PPPoe.Rebooted the wireless routerDHCP is enabled at both places,I even reset the router using a pin and the small reset hole at the back of the router. Tried switching off the router and the modem, connecting them back. Nothing seems to work The status tab just shows me the PPPoe as connecting but it appears that the Wireless router is just unable to connect to the modem for some reason. Called MTNL too, they weren't too bright.IP address for router 192.168.0.1 and for the modem 192.168.1.1. Came across a few posts for Linksys routers not much for my specific wireless router. If there is a post with a problem similar to mine would be great to see if a solution is there tooAny help would be appreciated. Anyone

Is your wireless router connected to your ADSL modem? You might want to try giving the wireless router a static address and then using DHCP from the wireless router for the rest of your connections. Thats what worked in my case. I upgraded my firmware to tomato and it works brilliantly

HiShould i also disable DHCP for the modem?? and use only DHCP server from wireless router??The router already has 192.168.0.1 as the IP address. What is tomato?RegardsDhananjay

I checked the site (its pathetic) for the manual & could not find it. But then I remembered that a friend of mine had it. I have uploaded it to this site 2shared - download DI-524UP_User%20Manual_v1.02.pdf Please download the manual from there & let me know after you do so. It gives the instructions for setting up the unit. Hope it solves your problem. 🙂

PS If the unit is a self owned piece then I suggest you download the latest firmware from the site before it is removed. :O

I finally found what works.. Keep all the settings as you would when try and connect normally and just enable bridge mode on the modem instead of PPPoe. The wireless router can have PPPoE as the mode. It works and am wireless:clap:

hi .. i have a D-Link wireless router (dir 300).. mtnl plan tht i have selected is 320kbps unlimited . the company(mtnl) has provided me a modem (COMPANY - sterlite-adsl2+modem). the problem i face is that either my modem works(so i can access internet from my pc ) or my wifi router works(so that i can access internet from my cellphone ) .So in order to decide which 1 i want to use i have to connect the wires accordingly . how do i make both of them work together ?? since i bought the wifi router on my own ,the mtnl guys refuse to solve my problem.I have to solve it on my own. Also please help me on how to connect the wires to and from the router and modem. please reply ASAP . the operating system i use is WINDOWS 7.

Did you buy this recently? This link D-Link Wireless G router
says its 'This product is End of Sale '. Anyway that link also allows you to download the Product Manual which shows how the settings are done, if its still not clear than check out Socrates the make is different but the fundas are same. Can you tell us how you have done the wiring when the WiFi is in use? The very fact that you have to change the wiring for different gadgets shows that you have not done the wiring correctly. How the wiring is done is also mentioned in the same blog
The DNS entries are fine you can also use as alternate DNS the following

59.185.3.10
203.94.227.70

Personally use OpenDNS

Remember that you should be able to use your desktop connected thru the cable to the router & WiFi at the same time.
