Does anyone is using Netflix? . What are the normal download speed you get.I am on 777 plan and getting only 120 KBPS when downloading Netflix videos although connection is absolutely normal. Please share your experience

Download speed for me on netflix is good. Sometimes it may slow down for a min or so. Which cricle are u from? If i'm right Netflix own servers in UAE and in which we connect.

I am from Kerala and recently taken the 777 plan. Although streaming Netflix is not an issue ,but the download speed never go across 120-KBPS. Also the torrenting speed is less when compared to my earlier connection Asianet. Please share your torrenting speeds .

@philip Overall I find the FTTH connection in Kerala pretty great. I get the full speeds pretty much always. Streaming Netflix, Hotstar, Prime Video always works over full HD or the max available quality.

I haven't used torrents much on the BSNL connection so can't comment on that. But considering every other aspects of the connection looking great, I don't think there'd be an issue with that. I must add that I almost always use private trackers.

Download speeds over http almost always maxes out the connection for me.

Hi varkey,
What's the speed you r getting in speed test Vodafone Mumbai server from kerela

To Vodafone Mumbai server I am getting about 59 mbps download speed and an upload speed of 16 mbps with a latency of 74ms

Netflix speeds are good here. No problems with netflix. But I don't use Netflix often.

I am getting very slow speeds in Hotstar, Sonyliv etc. Which I use regularly..With Chromecast. Buffering is slow and sometimes stops playing video ..But internet speed testing shows speeds are okay. Why this happen? They are restricting speeds in Chromecast?

I tested playing videos in my mobile. Its streaming beautifully in high resolution. No issues. So the problem happens only in Chromecast. But why?

If the problem is with Chromecast, then Netflix should should not play in Chromecast. But Netflix plays very beautifully in Chromecast.

confused..

I am also having similar problem. With Bharat Fiber 100 Mbps plan, which I started using few days ago, I am getting choking effect while using Netflix. While streaming with Amazon Prime, Hotstar, Youtube is blazing fast, using Netflix is a problem. This problem is persistent with Netflix, whether I use PC, cellphone, Android tablet or Amazon Fire TV stick. Within one minute the streaming stops and buffering screen remains. If I change to ADSL plan (which I still have) Netflix runs smoothly. Is Bhart fiber somehow choking Netflix streaming? I have tried various options given at Netflix site.

I think it is an issue with the ip addresses they are issuing.Sometimes i got IPs within 61... range and then downloads and streaming to netflix and prime are blazing fast. I experienced this issue whenever i got IPs within the 59 series and 117 series. Anyone with VPN please check it whether they have same issue.

Qwerty890 you are a savior. Changing MTU to 1000 seems to do the trick. Yesterday I was able to use Netflix on BharatFiber continuously. Previously it used to stop working after few minutes. Thanks.

@udaydw can you tell where all you changed the MTU to 1000? In the router only or OS also etc?

I'm surprised that MTU helped in this case. can you change it back to 1400 and see if the problem re-occurs (this was just a coincidence?)

I will try 1400 MTU again. Don't think it is a coincidence, as Netflix was not working for more than few minutes for last two weeks, since I got Bharat Fiber connection. It used to work nicely with ADSL connection. It still works with ADSL. ( I still have my ADSL connection ), Meanwhile, I changed the MTU at Modem (mine Optilink ONT). Go to WAN Settings and there you will see MTU.

I thought MTU modification is not necessary thanks to "path MTU discovery" steps taken when a connection is made to a server. but maybe some misconfiguration in netflix servers or bsnl network causing this low MTU to allow it to speed up things. good to know.
