Can the existing MTNL instruments be used for JIO landline, or does it have to be a IP phone ? I heard they are not giving the instrument.

@Dhiraj Yes, you can use your existing MTNL equipment with Jio GigaFiber.

Hi,
Any update of landline status in Hyderabad. I got my connection on 28 of May and I see landline is not working on my router. In the centrum page i see that VOIP is marked as X.

It can be used as a landline by connecting an ordinary land phone. Call can also be made / picked up from mobile by setting up the JioCall app.

Has anybody who has NOT got Land Line (VOIP) service activated at the time of installation, got it subsequently? If so what is the procedure?

@alekhkhanna @koolkunz @Lobogris @coolsam07 @krish80 @socrates @yougotmehere and others

Understand that Jio has asked their technical team leaders to furnish the details of old customers for whom Land Line (VOIP) service was NOT enabled while giving Fiber connection. This will facilitate Jio to enable the VOIP service. If you are one, you may contact the tech engineer who has set up the service for you. May be, they will enable the service before the AGM. Hope STB will also be delivered alongwith, so that Triple Play can be enjoyed.

I got my Landline connection activated today evening. The number allotted was not of my choice, but a random one not related to any of my numbers set in my Jio profile. Tha landline appears to be working well.

Registered in DND (Do Not Disturb) and Unlisted from the Directory Services by Logging on to Jio.com so that I am saved from marketing calls.

Installed JioCall (Old Name = Jio4GVoice) on my mobile phone. On an incoming call to Jio Landline, both landline and the mobile ring and you can pick up the call from either and talk.

Check both incoming and outgoing calls to different service providers (Jio VOIP & BSNL Landline; Jio, BSNL, Vidafone-Idea, & Airtel mobiles. All are working OK.

Incoming and Outgoing calls of various mobile service providers are OK.
Incoming and Outgoing calls of Jio and BSNL Landlines are also OK.

Installed JioCall on a spare mobile and configured to Jio VOIP service. It was OK on the first Installation, But not working later with the message "Unable to connect. Please check the Internet connection". Posted the problem in Google Play.
As Jiocall is hanging, I prefer to forward all incoming calls to my Jio Mobile number and use POT for outgoing calls.

Please use JioCall and observe the performance and report here and also at Google Play if any problem.

Further observations, if any, will be posted by editing this post.

Contact the technical team member who delivered and activated your ONT. If your city is cleared for voice, he will make the request to backend to activate your voip. Then, he may come and do the activation or give you the procedure. Without city clearance and backend enabling, nothing can be done.

Landline is working fine for me. But sometimes it take multiple taps on the phone to cut the call. Not sure if that's my phone's issue.

JioCall is not working on my phone. It is not even detecting that I am on a JioFiber network!

@MSR Murthy - Are you connected to the JioGigaHub's wifi signal when you are using JioCall?
(I tried all options, but nothing is going through.. i'm on Android 10 beta if that makes some difference)

1) May be your phone's issue.
2) It takes about a minute to detect that you are on giga network.
3) You must be connected to Gigahub wifi only for Jiocall to work. If wifi is lost even for a moment, jiocall is hanging. So I reported the problem in Google play and stopped using it for the time being.

There are few issues/bugs and lags with this new Jio landline service.

(1) There is a very long delay/ lag (8 to 15 seconds) in out-going calls after dial any number (mobile or landline of any company).
And sometimes, there is a delay in incoming calls ringing on my landline also.

This delay is very high compared to other companies's landline service like BSNL Landline which is very fast to connect compared to Jio landline.

(2) Jio Landline ringing pattern is not good and also very irritating & unpleasant.
First there is a long continuous ringing of around 15sec and then long pause of 15secs and then again long ringing 15sec. (Same in all landline devices).
This issue is not with my old BSNL landline service.

This is not normal ringing pattern. Jio need to improve the landline ringing pattern. There should be 5sec ringing and then 3sec pause and then again 5sec ringing pattern.

(4) Jio VoIP landline service stop working after when I change the Jio's default DNS Address to other Public DNS like Google DNS 8.8.8.8 or Cloudflare DNS 1.1.1.1 and then restart the router.

Why they provide option/setting in Jio GigaFiber ONT to change the Jio default DNS to other Public DNS if their system don't support it?

(4). One other thing also which I don't like is that there is no old BSNL landline like Dail-Tone. There is a continuously beeeep sound ( like tuuuuuuuuu..........) when we pick the receiver but not like old BSNL landline dail-tone (like turrrrrrrrrrrr.......) .

This Jio dail-tone should be change to older BSNL copper based landline dial-tone because general public and specially older citizens are more familiar with older dail-tone and not comfortable with this Jio dial-tone.

(2) Sometimes, when I call to other person or when I received a call from other person to my landline, the other person cannot able to hear my voice clearly and sometimes we both cannot able to hear each other's voice. This happens sometimes.

It's a serious issue. Jio VoIP landline service is not fully reliable currently and due to this issue, the customers can't fully trust on the Jio landline service as of now.

Jio has started pushing out banners to activate VOIP (Landline) service through MyJio app to the early GigaFibre customers who didn't get it as a combo. Though, i am still to get one, but my brother got that in MyJio app on his iPhone. It was a simple process where it automatically allots you the landline number and you Gigafibre standalone plans changes to a Combo plan. Any plans that you might have qued in would also reflect the new change. I guess it's a phased process but what surprises me is that my connection was activated a month prior to my brothers connection and logically i should have received the request first.
