I have been wanting to go to leh but there prepaid does not work, now I applied for airtel and jio both.

1st airtel informed me they will activate postpaid connection for free but later asked Rs 250 ( non refundable) and another Rs 399 monthly for the plan.

Now i applied for Jio yesterday, after filling the form the guy asks for Rs 99 + Rs 250 ( refundable) does anyone know is this compulsory ? As he did not agree to give the connection without it, so i told him to put on hold for now..

Get bsnl for leh.

mtnl will go on bsnl network in Srinagar, leh and ladakh ? also does not look like mtnl has any good 4g plans or 4g network..

99 is for prime which is payable in postpaid also. Rs.250 is security deposit.

Take it as Rs.199+gst plan advance rent.

If your requirement is short term avoid jio as postpaid is new whoch could go problematic.

I do not think even BSNL works good at remote locations.

3 years back I was at Losar(4000M)..... last habitation before Kunjum La(4600M)...... I was standing under the BSNL tower but still no signal.....

On inquiring the locals, they told me that it was due to power cut..... though a standby generator and battery back up was there...... Even when power was restored, there was no signal..... I had 2 different MTNL Dolphin sims on 2 different handsets......

There was Mobile reception only at say 30% of the places on Lahaul and Spiti valley between Recong Peo and Manali...

And Leh and further would not be much different I guess.....

I cant comment about Himachal, but if one plans extensive travel in Ladakh, BSNL is a lifesaver. Their coverage is unmatched. Travelers from outside JK need to get a postpaid SIM as prepaid roaming doesn't work in JK.

Got the Airtel pospaid connection today, had to really work to get this connection, as 1st one which I booked online did not get activsted so had to visit the center in really hot sunny day walking.

Now I will see if I can get prepaid sim in Jammu it's self of BSNL in case required. Jio might not be good in leh lot of people in quora saying againt it, I toh don't get jio or Airtel Network even in main Delhi properly at my residence 😛

what exactly is the point of prime if it is mandatory on all connections?
To pay 99rs commission to seller without taking from jio’s own pocket.
In postpaid commission is higher so 250+99 all goes to dealer.
Only 99 in prepaid. Of course recharge voucher sold along got fixed margin percentage.
