Hey guys i was thinking about upgrading my internet speed from 512kbps to 768 kbps. Can you tell me if 360p videos on youtube will play smoothly and without any buffering issues on a 768 kbps connection?

IMHO....only 2 mbps connection plays it smoothly

yes because i run it comfortably, sometimes it buffers sometimes not in 512 ...u asking for 768, i think its gonna work pretty well

As vj said it's hit and miss on 512k. The same thing will happen with 768k as my cousin who lives nearby my house has a 768k connection but videos sometimes just default to 144 240P (may be in the middle or just after few seconds) of opening it.
But then again i can assure you that he get torreents speed of maximum 100kbps-110kbps.

Video streaming not only depend on download speed, it also depend on high upload and low ping. 512kbps download speed is good enough if upload is 512kpbs and ping is less then 50 m/s.
360p videos stream without buffering if 768kpbs paln had good upload speed . other wise it won't help.
( or) U can try speed bit software. it will reduce your buffering time.

Diagree about upload speed requirements regular streaming . That us valid for video calls though

If youtube video's cache is stored on local google server then you will have no issues. But if you are watching some obscure video which no one watches, you will buffer even on 10 Mbps.Sad thing about MTNL and youtube.

I had been watching 480p YT videos on my 1mbps fine for years. 360p IMO will not at all be a problem on 768.

It is not only speed which matters, things like cache by ISP and such also matter. I have a 1 Mbps connection and i still get lot of buffering on YOU broadband.

It is good , actually its all about stable connection and not about speed . Even if you have 2mbps connection but a poor stable line then it will buffer as well .
