Internet disconnects frequently

Hi,
My internet connection disconnects frequently. Adsl light on modem goes off & on after certain amount of time. I have D-Link GLB 502T modem which has inbuilt splitter.
One thing to mention here is if I put off the reciever of my landline telephone intenet connection lasts longer.
Besides , there are several joints to our telephone cable.
What could be the possible reason behind frequent disconnections.

Where are you from? I'm from Dindigul Dist of Tamilnadu (in a remote village) and i aslo face this problem for the last 6-7 days. I called both local exchange and area AE but they're telling so many reasons for the problem one of them is there's some server problem in bangloe and some are saying some strike within BSNL...

one off those joints probably is the cause. Today i just had my wire replaced from the joint that MTNL had done, probably because of rain !

How are my stats?
 
My internet connection has been dropping very frequently for the past few days. I am using a Belkin router (I know i am gonna get bashed for opting a Belkin). BSNL technician visited with a Binatone router and the connection started working fine. Anyone aware of any issues and possible solutions with belkin adsl modem routers?
