in simple terms, aadhaar act has a provision that you can use to ask uidai to remove your data from their database. whether they would do it is another case.

this would become very interesting if sc bench gives a decision against mandatory implementation of aadhaar. i assume a lot of people would want to remove their data from uidai servers and this clause would come in handy.

what would happen to all the times adhaar was used for authentication? for example, andhara pradesh already has a scheme to verify land records thru adhaar. now, what would happen to it if I disable my ahdaar?

you would disappear from the system so i guess you would again be asked to submit your aadhaar data? the thing is i have not seen any confirmed report of anyone managing to successfully remove their aadhaar data from uidai servers. this particular clause has been mentioned a lot on social media for months now. i guess you would need to go to court to get directions for uidai to process your request as per the clause in the aadhaar act to get your info removed. which is why i guess this should come into play if somehow magically SC comes out with a ruling that stops the mandatory nature of aadhaar for cases that have nothing to do with government subsidies and social welfare.

Nothing is clear right now. Cji wanted petitioners to go to CB to get extension of deadlines. Said aadhaar can only be picked up by CB once the Delhi vs Center case is over. Petitioners would have to fight it out this month to get heard by the existing CB to get deadlines extended. We are all essentially collectively fucked.
