Help needed to configure my router from scratch!

hi guys, Recently,my comp had been affected by some virus and i have had to format my hard disk.Now, i am unable to access internet on triband coz the router settings are all lost.So, i need you guys to help me get my triband connection started.I am not a tech guy.Hence, please try to explain from a layman perspective.Please reply. :blink: :blink: :blink:

Dude, why have you posted your query in multiple sections? If you had posted it in the wrong section, you shoud have reported it to the mod. He would have moved it to the appropriate section. Starting multiple threads won't fetch you more help.

I had intended to post my query in this section irself.But,i dunno how it got posted it some other section.I am a noob to this forum.So,re-posted the topic in the intended section.Why the hell do u need to get so worked up if i hav posted it in multiple sections????

Dude, you don't have to pay for the bandwidth used for running this forum. Nether do I, but at least I respect the rules of the forum.

Anyway, regarding your query, your router settings can't be lost due to loss of data from your hard disk, because these settings are stored in your router itself. What you might need to do is install drivers for your your LAN Card, and then set it up. If you are using Windows XP, you don't need to do anything. Just goto Network Connections (in control panel).
Right click on 'Local Area Connection' and select properties.
Select TCP/IP properties over here. Now set your IP address to 192.168.1.x (Here x can be anything between 2-40), Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0 and Default Gateway to 192.168.1.1.
