Help - Bulk Importing from Alibaba

Do anyone have experience about importing cheap stuff from alibaba in bulk to India ?

Product costs less than $1 and total cost would be less than $1000

Can I import stuff without some special license as an individual for personal consumption ?

@Smh If you are importing for personal usage? Only cost will be the customs.

If you are importing for reselling? It will include Custom + GST. You will need GST Reg and IE Code for it.

See, if you do a bulk order, be ready for 42% customs, since that's the rate for e-commerce purchases.

What you can do is: breaking down the order into smaller ones, so you can maybe avoid customs.

Order #1: Say $75, and once it has shipped you can place Order #2 and so on.


I know a guy who bought stuff worth 11k INR to sell at college parties and was charged no customs. Gati did a KYC, but that was it.


Ninja Edit: The KYC form had a declaration for the stuff and if it was for personal use. He had ticked on that.

You buy $1 or $10,000. If it's personal, It's personal. If it's Ecom, It's ecom.

What you pay is Import Duty/Custom Duty if it's personal.

If Business/Ecom: Import Duty + GST.

P.S.: If by chance you are doing it for Business, You can tell me. I might talk to the people I know and might try to find something.
