Hi,
What are the settings to ACT Fibernet ? Having a hard time configuring it on the D-Link DIR-300.
First Step, tested the connection by directly connecting to ACT Portal (Home) - Logged in and logged out.
Then connected DLINK DIR - 300 Router and configured the following settings : -
PPPoE mode enabled.
Enter login name and password.
Always on connection.
Enable DNS to 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 (Is this required or should I choose, ISP assings DNS automatically)
DHCP is Enabled.
Any other settings to be tinkered with ?
After this I log out from the router configuration window. Switch off the router. Plugin internet cable to dedicated internet port. I turn on the router. At this stage the router logs me into the server. Then I plugin the LAN Cable from PC.
However this process worked for a few days. Again I am exercising downtime all the time. Chrome throws up the error unable to resolve DNS address. Removing DNS address and enabling ISP assignment of DNS address on router is not working. Any help on this ?
On another point, the Netgear DGN 2200 is an ADSL modem + Router. I fail to see how ADSL modem does not work with ACT Fibernet. The same settings can be applied to Netgear DGN 2200. Even got the ADSL Modem+Router for a few minutes and then the connection dropped. The ADSL Modem Router provides for 4 LAN Ports and one of them is meant for internet only just like a regular router. Any thoughts on this ?
The customer care / manager / service personnel I interacted with appear to be extremely incompetent and incapable of guiding a customer as to the configuration settings. Straight away they say ADSL modem does not work with ACT Fibernet. Lot of BSNL ADSL customers switching to ACT Fibernet. They ought to look into the same and put up appropriate guides on their website.
