Fake data usage reporting by Act Broadband. Customer support is not helping.

Looks like I might have to disconnect my act connection. Im seeing abnormal usage on my account since last two months. Normally I use around 100~150GB per month but since last two months Im seeing around 350GB usage.

But the kicker is I was out of station this whole month and yesterday I came home, login into act and surprised to see my usage at 78Gb! The pc was switched off and wifi router was disconnected so theres absolutely no doubt that the problem is at their end! And their customer care refuses to accept the problem and say that their engineer will call within one day whereas it never happens! Even emailing to them doesn't do anything

Beam was awesome but ACT came and absolutely ruined it!
 
Same issue Bangalore side too. It has been happening since last 2 to 3 months. Last month it showed additional 30GB for me. This month on day one it showed 13GB extra. Even I am told I will get a call from an engineer and it has never happened.
 
Change your login password right away. The services can be logged in by anyone anywhere in ACT/beam network and the data consumption will get tagged in your accounts.
Also, make sure you always logout when connection is not needed.

Also, if you can show the evidence actual upload/download passing thru your router, it can be contested. I can help you on this, but the evidance of data communication and useage should the technical hard evidence and not like i know i cannot type statements.
 
I change login passwords every month. And I don't share it with anyone.

Last year there was some issue with login so the beam customer care region locked my account. So even if anyone tries to login from other areas, they will be denied.

I've checked my routers settings (Asus Rt n12 lx) and didn't fine any option to count data usage.

Last month, act people contested that the problem maybe at my end. But now, Im sure Its from their end
 
In that case you have to do some efforts to monitor your usage. A data logger is required before your router to monitor every bit of data. If you are ok with taking up pain, then i can help you with guidance. You need to invest time efforts and may be some money to procure needed hardware (if not available offhand.) Yeah....but beam/act i myself had fought and got the data report contested. I showed them detailed technical drill down data and finally they accepted the mistake and as a result my hyd house has a single mode fiber directly connected to my router thru mux 1on 1(at beam's expense). Now i dont see any mismatch.
A variation of 10-15% is expected(due to abandon sessions of data errors) but if anything above that, can be contested, it takes time, constant followup for long frustrating period but at the end it gets settled and needs to be corrected. In my case it took me 2long months of almost everyday fight and then finally got my issue settled once for all.

I dont have to spend my time or money proving my fucking isp is fucking with my internet connection. I'll just take airtel or hathaway

Just got a call from someone at act. Don't know if its because I complained here or because I complained 4 times through phone.

I explained (shouted) my problem to that guy and plainly told him to disconnect my connection if he can't resolve my problem and he was apologetic and reset my fup. I asked what if the same problem occurs next time and he said he'll monitor my connection to see if anything fucky is going on. but the moment he said he reset my fup, I get a message from act saying my complaint is being closed while I was still on the call. This makes me believe that the guy on phone reset my fup just to make me shut up and this same problem will continue next month. Lets see
 
FUP was reset for me too today. Technician told me that they have upgraded to a new version of data usage tool. It created problems for few people. They have formed a new team to take care of those people who have FUP issues it seems.
 
This is unacceptable. What if my dad was the one using the net? He would never have noticed the data discrepancy and carried on nonchalantly. This is exactly like volkswagen CEO saying I don't know about those software fudging, take this 5rs and gtfo
