ET (which is my favourite torrent site) and few of its proxies have been blocked by SSV for a few weeks now.

On visiting the website (and its proxies), I get this message: “Your requested URL has been blocked as per the directions received from Department of Telecommunications, Government of India. Please contact administrator for more information.”

Now I found this a bit odd as I had no problem accessing the website while using Vodafone, Airtel and MTNL. If the DOT has really directed ISPs to block this website, why haven't other branded ISPs done the same?

Next day, I contacted them on their customer helpline number and asked the lady on the other side for an explanation regarding this ban. She herself had no idea what I was talking about and said that I should either send them a detailed e-mail after which they can start an enquiry or I should contact the local office manager.
So taking this advice, I dropped them an e-mail on 20/11/15 asking them about this ban and have got no reply since. I also visited the local office and asked the manager about this, to which he said that their head-office deals with this stuff and that I should contact them. But when I him asked for their number, he got rude and said he doesn't have it and that I should stop bothering him as he had better things to do.

Not wanting to create a ruckus, I left and called the contact number provided on their website of their main office located in Bengaluru i.e. 080-45114500/20. On contacting them, the customer service personnel said that I should drop them a mail on info@dvois.com. I did the same about a week ago and I'm yet to get a reply.

When I told a friend about this, he said that some ISPs are collaborating with Indian movie production houses by accepting their requests for blockage of certain sites unlawfully, and some of these ISPs are even run by a parent company of some of the movie production companies. And to get this ban revoked, I should contact them and ask them to provide proof of legal ban.

As this is clearly not helping, how can I force them to provide proof of the ban? Can I contact DOT or any other govt. department regarding this in case they are doing it unlawfully? If yes, how?

How can it be illegal for a cable operator to not broadcast a private channel?

also our gov is so lazy what i observed is they have only blocked http protocol of the website !! those who are with SSL are opening 😛 if you try kat .cr i t will show you
"This site has been blocked as per the instructions of Competent Authority" but when you visit same site with https you gain access to website. kat cr with https
dont know what they wanna do exactly !! they cant even block proper way !

To block HTTPS they would need to do deep packet inspection from my understanding as everything is encrypted between the user and the server.
