Yesterday night all of a sudden Sify's DNS changed leaving me offline. They changed from 202.144.66.6 and 202.144.115.4 (the grand old DNS server IPs) to some other values now. And they didn't give any prior notifications too? What about your experiences everyone?

i dont use sify. But how can they change so suddenly without prior intimation to the customer? 😱

They have automatically upgraded all customers DNS when the user installs latest Sify 3.0 Client.Mine was also earlier: 202.144.115.4 , 202.144.66.6After installing sify 3.0 now its became😀NS Servers: 202.144.115.4, 202.144.10.50----Chalo Sify ne ek kaam to kia.. that DNS gets updated automatically. 😛

that dns did not work for me. i had to change back to old again 🙁how is the new dns for u guys? fast?? 🙄

Mine changed to 202.114.50.4 and 202.144.13.50 but even if i do change these they again get back to...... 202.114.50.4 and 202.144.13.50 on every login.

Aha, I am not using the Windows based client nowadays. That's why I didn't get to know. Thanks for letting me know friends 🙂 . My DNS servers are 202.144.13.50 and 202.144.50.4 too now.

Right now again the old DNS servers are working for me but yesterday they weren't!

And the new DNS servers do seem fast indeed though by just some 20-30 milliseconds 😛 (1 second = 1000 milliseconds so you can see how small it is )

Here's how I got to know it using some commands on Linux 🙂 . The line Query time is the one to look at :-

New DNS-

Code:
dig @202.144.50.4 [url]www.rediff.com[/url] | grep "Query time";; Query time: 13 msecdig @202.144.13.50 [url]www.rediff.com[/url] | grep "Query time";; Query time: 12 msec
Old DNS-

Code:
dig @202.144.115.4 [url]www.rediff.com[/url] | grep "Query time";; Query time: 30 msecdig @202.144.66.6 [url]www.rediff.com[/url] | grep "Query time";; Query time: 50 msec

good good. Sify is definitely improving. And their meddling client actually does somethings right!
