@Sushubh I tried pausing the steam download and then restart it. But it still continued to use the backup WAN.

Could you ask @Nishant or Vedant to help?

How long did you wait before resuming the download? There are things like tcp keep-alive which might cause it to keep the TCP connection alive and just re-use it when resuming the download.

Obviously no router would break an already established connection when the primary comes back on online. Only new connections would use the primary in this case. The decision to route a request through which WAN is decided at the time of establishing the connection.

If you want more aggressive fall back, its going to be disruptive, I am not sure if that's what you truly want.

@Sushubh Yes, I tried that way. I waited for 5-10 minutes. (ISP 2 to ISP 1).

The Problem is that EdgeRouter-X doesn't shift the established connection to the primary connection. But it shifts the newly established connection to the primary.

Suppose, I am downloading something on Steam and ISP 1 goes off. It will start downloading from ISP 2.

Meanwhile ISP 1 came online.

It will continue to download the stuff from ISP 2. (Established Connection)

But if I start another download on Chrome or anything else. It will happen on ISP 1. (New Connection)

This is as designed, and pretty much all devices work the same way.

I'm using load balance mode on ER-X and it seems to be working as I expected. I've set the weight of 70:30.

In this mode when the primary goes down and comes back online I've seen the lower resolution Youtube streaming on Chromecast switching to higher resolution in a around a minute or so. I know when the link goes down and comes back up as I've added a script which emails me when it happens.

You can try updating to the latest firmware and then doing a reconfiguration. May or may not help. Not sure.

There are a lot of things which can be done on this router which I've not explored yet due to the lack of time.
