Competent broadband isp in navi mumbai?

According to you, who is the best Broadband provider in Navi Mumbai (Vashi)?

I did try searching the forum and Google before resorting to asking in the forum, but the only results were from many years back. And services constantly keep changing, so I wanted updated information.

I'm currently using SSV D-Voishit, which I have regretted getting the same day I applied for the connection because of the unprofessionalism. Unfortunately, I'm new here from the maincity and I made the mistake of believing the fake reviews on Sulekha. I'm disgusted with the service, and the net has worked for a total of only 3 times in over a week. I have had to call the so called "engineers" every single day, and no one has ever picked their "customer support" number.

To make a long ugly story short. I desperately want to cancel the SSV connection as soon as possible. I need another better service provider with a minimum of 1-2 Mbps and an unlimited plan. I make extensive use of the internet and price shouldn't be a problem with me as long as the ISP can guarantee 100% up-time and fast speeds. I require a ethernet connection for now. And I can't apply for a landline so I think MTNL is out of the question. Also, taking into concern the recent developments of government censoring the internet, I'd like a provider who gave me full access to the internet.

Unfortunately as SSV is basically the monopoly cable operator in Navi Mumbai, you're SOL for any and all ISPs unless you want MTNL (which you can't get as you've mentioned) or are lucky enough to have Airtel, Reliance or Tata in your building, as any other cable ISP will be using SSV's infrastructure which causes the service & quality to be as you have experienced, irrespective of who you choose.Additionally, no ISP anywhere in the world will guarantee 100% uptime, nor will any provider give you full unfettered uncensored access to the Internet where it means contravening government/supreme court orders (that's not to say that a number of ISPs don't have kneejerk reactions to overzealous court orders rather than fighting/questioning the legitimacy on behalf of the users, but this is beyond the scope of the post).Certain people are trying to change the situation in Navi Mumbai but sadly it takes a lot of time and costs a lot of money.

Hey, and thank you for your reply. Now, I'm very worried. I guess expecting good up-time here would be rather impossible. Although, I won't say it's impossible everywhere, I've been in the Gulf for over two years and never had a single day without the internet. Impeccable. But that's besides the point and I understand I can't expect the same level of service here, but I'd like to be able to at least use the internet 5 days out of 6. With ShitVois, I've only been able to use it twice out of 10 days which is pathetic, even to Indian standards.

The reason I mentioned uncensored internet is because I know for a fact SSV (as much as I despise it) hasn't blocked any torrent sites or some such. Anyhow, that shouldn't be a problem with proxies, so no worries there. So you reckon if I approach some other broadband service, they're just going to be using SSV's POS infrastructure?! This is really shocking news to me. What if I try Airtel or Reliance or some other? I've heard YOU Broadband is good. There has to be SOME solution, I really cannot stand talking to another SSV "engineer" again.

If you can't get a landline, forget AirTel and Reliance (unless its reliance metro ethernet, but then again Reliance is famous for its censoring of the web). andd ... isn't internet in the gulf heavily censored ?

I never said internet in the Gulf is not heavily censored, it is. Which is why I kind of know my way around proxies, somewhat. I only said internet where I was had impeccable service. Thank you for your suggestion. I am going to try Airtel and Reliance tomorrow, even if I have to apply for a landline. You're sure this is my only option? Is there absolutely no other way? How do people in this city live with such a service? I have no internet every. single. night. This is not an exaggeration.

If I do apply for a landline, how long would it approximately take for the service to be set up? I hope I don't have to wait a month or some such...

I expect by "the Gulf" you mean UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait or similar... all I can say is that it's typical in "developed" countries that the Internet doesn't go down, here it's accepted that it does and pretty frequently. Sadly, India has different "default" settings when it comes to standards and acceptability.

It's not SSV's job nor is it within their capacity to censor anything - SSV is only the cable operator - they provide the cables, nothing else.

As mentioned, if it is indeed SSV that is failing to operate during the night, then yeah, you can expect the same behaviour from whichever ISP you choose that uses SSV's infrastructure, and as such, you're basically forced to go for an ADSL connection from MTNL - or, if available Airtel/Rcom/Tata.
