Compatibility of Apple iPhones on Reliance Jio

Who knows? By the time actual launch will start so no offers for iPhone users 😀 These greedy bastids view iPhone owners as rich idiots willing to pay premium amounts I guess.

I tried installing all the JIO apps on my iPhone 6 (no I'm not one of those rich idiots - I pretty much had no choice for office use) but could not get it to generate an offer barcode or anything (even trying the tricks of turning off wifi/data to see if it triggers).

I am using Samsung offer JIO sim in my iPhone. Works very well.

You have to get the offer properly activated. Then you can simply use it in your iPhone.

I read somewhere that the Apple offer has been put on hold, because iPhones use single sim and users will never give up their original numbers for a new jio number. They would do so after the commercial launch and/or MNP kicks in.

Samsung users who got the preview offer are using jio sim in secondary slot....so iPhone preview offer may never see the light of the day :-(

I am hoping that once the preview offer expires in August they will untie the sim from the Lyf handset. I would rather pay and use these services than to use that stupid Lyf handset.

Tried putting the sim in the iPhone 6 today and it took a manual network lookup to get Jio signals - which were not stable at all. Obviously neither data nor outgoing worked. Surprisingly Lyf handset picked up signals quickly and they were more stable on it. Maybe a network update will fix it on the iPhone.

^^ Yeah iPhone 5S does not have VoLTE calling. iPhone 6, 6+, 6S, 6S+ and SE are the only 5 iPhone models supporting JIO VoLTE.

Actual usage? iPhone 6 or 6S/ SE for Jio VoLTE? Confusion based on blogs, sites, articles?

I'm currently using an iPhone 5 and plan to get a used iPhone 6 or SE from the US.

Now several sites and blogs say iPhone 6 also works and at places it says "update required" etc.

Question is assuming you are updated with iOS 9.3.3 firmwares (July 2016) then can/ the iPhone 6 (not 6S or SE).
Does it work on Jio VoLTE?

Anyone know anyone using it on Jio?

Is yours an iPhone 6 or 6S/ SE?

Some blogs/ sites say that 6 needs some update etc.(from carrier or manufacturer) - If iPhone 6 is updated to 9.0.2 or 9.3.3 (both jailbreakable) then can / does it work with Jio VoLTE?

List of iPhones supporting Jio 4G and VoLTE
6, 6+, 6S, 6S+, SE and upcoming 7

5S, 5C only support 4G data. VoLTE is not possible on it as it doesn't have capable hardware. Jio4GVoice app is not yet available on iOS App store.

I have iPhone 6S Plus and it needs to be updated to latest iOS version 9.3.5 after successful update, connect your iPhone to iTunes and you will receive Jio Specific carrier update message on your PC/Mac and choose to install it on your phone. Although Jio VoLTE is supported from iOS 9.3.1, it is best to update to 9.3.5 for best compatibility. Update to latest version only if you don't mind loosing your jailbreak permanently and possibly forever.

BTW Jio VoLTE is working flawlessly on my iPhone and even LTE band switching is working well. The only irritation is if Band changes from Band 5 to Band 3/40, there is an annoying data consumed USSD message. The same behavior is observed on compatible Androids too.

I have another secondary phone Le Eco Le Max 2 and even that phone does reasonably good on Jio network.

Right now making VoLTE calls is a pain as 90% of calls to AVoId numbers fail. I have to call the opposite person 9-10 times

Jio Preview offer available for iPhones now. Just update your my jio app

iPhone 5,5s,5c support's only net lte.
iPhone 6,6s support's both.

For sim, install Jio app and request from that app

I had 8.4 os on iPhone 6 earlier and calls never worked. But after I upgraded the os to 9.3.5, calls started working properly. So os upgrade is a must for people who have 8.x on iPhone 6 and above.
