Hello friends, I'm building a new PC for myself. My budget is around 35k. I intend to use the new system for design/development as well as gaming purposes. Here's what I intend on having;Intel Core 2 Duo E63001GB DDE 2 RAMLG 17in TFT LCD Monitor160GB SATA HDDMicrosoft Wireless Keyboard + MiceA graphics card (I haven't been able to decide which one)LG DVD WriterDo let me know your views on the above. I hope I can squeeze all this under my 35k budget. Which graphics card should I purchase provided I need one for gaming as well as a Microsoft Vista ready PC!Thanks in advance!

If you want to run Vista you'd be better off with 2GB RAM.

i really doubt u can put that up in less than 35k. the processor alone costs like 10k. the tft would cost another 10k. ram would take up around 5-6k. hard disk another 5k. writer would be like 2.5k. motherboard would be around 5k. dabba around 1.5k....

i must be wrong but ur looking at a possible quotation of around 45-50K with a decent graphic card. 😀

2GB RAM[/b]

even Dell people agree with that.

1 GB RAM costs 5-6 K? or were you referring to 2 GB? Pretty steep price still.

well i did buy a 512 meg ddr2 chip last month. it costed me around 2400 bucks.i am not sure if you can really buy 2 gb ram in 5000 bucks. especially when u would have to go in for 2x1GB chips which are going to be more expensive than 4x512 meg chips.

What i suggest is to buy a Gig or half gig for now and upgrade later, say 6months or so.Memory prices are constantly decreasing.Since the only memory hog is win vista and it wont be out (or at last be common ) for 3-4 months..and dont forget buy a decent graphics card with all the new age video acceralation...

what is suggest is that either go in for a single 1 gb chip or drop the idea of having 2 gb ram unless u can find a customer for 2 512 mb chips which u can now buy 😛. not sure but i doubt u can find a motherboard with more than 2 RAM slots. as for graphic card... buy a mb with inbuilt graphic controller now. wait till the time u can wait to get a real good quality graphic card. and buy when vista is out. this wont work however if you are going to play new gen games on this machine. for that i recommend, invest in a ps2 rather than in a graphic card. these are the things where u can wait. other things. nope.

A word of warning.

While thats the general outlook that RAM prices keep decreasing, Its not always true.More so,now.

With higher RAM requirement for Vista,PC vendors like Dell,HP are placing huge orders for RAM for the VISTA PC's . There's actually a shortage of RAM in the market. We can very well expect RAM prices to increase .

yes, there will be temp shortage and price increase.but thats what i pointed out, once the dust is settled, its the right time...

hmmmmmmm! I'll settle for a GB of ram to start with. I checked up the price for the processor, the E6300 would cost me about 7k-8k. I'm still confused on which graphics card to purchase 🙁

atleast the good thing is that ddr2 is cheaper than older generation ddr at the moment.

I'm looking to buy the same... is this the current price at Nehru Place or did you buy it from somewhere else?

(Also is there any good software which will tell me exactly what speed RAM I need without having to open up the computer and look for the sticker on the current chip?)

bought it from a dude in gurgaon who gets the stuff from NP. he told me rates of RAM were high during those days. but i needed the ram urgently so i purchased it.and no idea abt the second part. try using diagnostic utilities...
