Hi,

The following are my details:

Modem: UT300R2U
ISP: BSNL (NIB)
Plan: Home 3300
OS: Vista SP2
Browser: Firefox 3.5.2, IE 8
DNS: OpenDNS
Also installed: Network Meter Vista Gadget

For the last few weeks, I'm facing browsing problems for around 20 minutes atleast once every day. The connection will suddenly become sluggish and I am unable to browse or open 98% of the websites of my choice (these include GMail, Yahoo etc.) A few websites begin to load but the progress will stall and the content remains undisplayed.

During this time, I am assigned an dynamic IP address as usual and the DSL indicator light (on the modem) remains fixedly lit.

During this time, I am able to talk via Skype (with some or a lot of disturbance) and I'm able to send/receive email via Windows Mail.

The problem is primarily with browsing - pages just won't load/open. The following are three sample tracert screens:

The funny thing is today when this happened, I was able to browse easily using a Mexican proxy IP address.

I talked to a bunch of people from BSNL over the phone and some said there might be a problem with my system. I checked the connection with a laptop I seldom use and faced the same problem there as well.

The JE who visited my house said this is most probably a routing issue at BSNL's end. He saw that I could browse using the Mexican proxy.

Now, these occurrences last from a few minutes to 4 hours!!! (today). Some days there is no problem but on other days I have found this to happen at no particular given time - sometimes for 20 minutes starting from 10 AM, sometimes for 15 minutes starting from I PM etc. Quite random in occurrence and duration.

I would really like to know what's going on and if anyone else has faced similar problems. Help? I'd really appreciate some advice/feedback.

Thanks, guys!

Appears you have VISTA OS.TCP/IP settings are OK.Uncheck IPV6 box in same page. In modem 192.168.1.1/main.html Maintenance menu item Client TR_069 uncheck if enabled.also uncheck box "SOAP" if seen. feedback.

Hi essbebe,Sorry for the delay in replying...The IPv6 box is unchecked.Client TR_069 Inform is enabled. I will disable it if required but there are things like ACS URL, username, password etc in the rows below. What exactly is its function? 🙁And I was unable to find SOAP.Please do reply when you have time.
