Hi, I am starting this thread , to share the thoughts/feedbacks of all Asianet Cable Vision - ADTV users in Kerala.
Asianet Satellite Communications Ltd. is the largest cable network services company in the state of Kerala and one of the largest such companies in the world. Started in 1993, Asianet Satellite Communications has today grown in size and reach. Its cable network services operate from over 50 centers spread throughout Kerala and touch over half a million homes and establishments. The Asianet cable network carries up to 115 channels. It includes seven exclusively-owned channels which are only cable-cast over our network, namely Asianet Cable Vision (ACV, a news, events and movie channel), Jukebox (interactive video music channel), Medley (another interactive video music channel), RoseBowl, Hi & Info. It is the leading service provider in the region for Asianet Digital TV, Cable TV and Internet solutions, and has embarked on a fascinating journey into the CONVERGENCE era and adoption of evolving technologies.
ACV has entered into digital telecasting named Asianet Digital Television (ADTV). The telecasting has been officially launched on Chingam 1 2006.
The telecasting is made possible via a network of underground optical fibre cables laid from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasargod. The new service offers over 115-channel with the help of a digital head-end set up in Kochi. The US-based Scientific Atlanta is providing the technical support for the ADTV. The Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) of the cable service will let the subscribers set the time to watch their favourite programme by automatically switching over to the programme. The ADTV has plans to introduce various phone-in-demand programmes such as digital video, video-on-demand, interactive programme and video recording. Video-on-demand will help subscribers choose films, TV programmes and soap operas they like to watch. At present the digital service is available at a monthly rent of Rs 199 plus taxes, while the analogue service is charged at Rs 165 plus taxes.

Hello, How much is the cost of subscription and how many channels does it beam? Does it contain all the channels provided by DishTV and Tata Sky?

Its beaming 115 channels... we had almost all channels till recently, when they blocked the Sony boquet. Dont know when they will start again.Quality is superb and comparable to TS. They have a dedicated channel called Rosebowl where they show some good english movies and music. Thats worth.

Yes, we need to use the STB which they provide to get digital channels. DVD quality + stereophonic sound as they say. Monthly its 199/- + tax which will come to around 220.

Oh that's so cool man, its a reasonable cost and everybody can afford that. Do they have any plans to extend the cable.

Hi, I am using Asianet Cable TV (Analogue). In analogue cable, number of channel is only 75. I missed some good channels like Animal Planet, Discovery and much more. Is this channels are available in Asianet Digital TV or not? Tata Sky provided more laungage feeds for one channel (Toon Disney is available in Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu). Is this option available in Asianet Digital TV?

As of now they have blocked the Sony bouquet, which consists of Sony channels, Animal Planet, AXN, Ten Sports, Discovery and Animax. (Did I miss any?)... They are not available in ADTV as well. Multi lingual option is also not available. I have enquired and they are saying that it will be available soon. I have no idea when... As of now, advantages over analogue and digital are picture quality, stereophonic sound and EPG. There are some test channels for movie on demand, which they are claiming to open soon. As of now, this is not at par with TS or Dish TV

I checked the ADTV site, but they are also not providing the channel list. We are getting all popular channels except the SET group of channels like Sony, Set max, pix, anim planet, axn, discovery etc. All other popular channels are coming. Plus some extra channels for M-on-D.

I am not sure, I dont remember seeing Raj channels. Anyway I will check and let you know. They do not have any personal settings for Tamil/Hindi channels. So you need to remember the channel number or use the EPG. 🙁. I am yet to get familiarized with that. And Im not an avid fan of Raj as well. 🙂

Sorry, I didnt get your question properly. If you are asking for the input, its the normal RF cable which we have through which they are streaming both analouge and digital signals. Output is through AV cable to TV set. You have an option to bypass the digital and view analouge feed using the RF out option of STB.

In normal cable connection, analogue cable is connected to TV. My question is, in ADTV which cable (analogue or digital) is connected to the STB?I post this question beacause, Asianet has an advertisement that shows they have digital cable services.
