^ Not true with Tata Sky. I still have my old SD box even after cancelling it, for over four years. As per their CC I can activate it again if I wanted to.

Oh... actually i have both airtel and Tata Sky hd DVRs and both have been used after 1-2 years but never heard anything from the company to return the boxes.

Amazon Prime Video has arrived on Airtel Internet TV. With the upgrade of firmware from V45 to V67, you will also get new features such as access to the cloud storage (5 GB free), unlimited parallel recording, removal of subscription check banner & of course the Prime Video. There are some changes in the interface as well.

^^^ Do you use Airtel's Internet STB?
How is performance in terms of conventional usage (like powering ON, changing channels)?
I was considering it, but was not sure after reading negative reviews about lags while performing some actions, so didn't opt for it.

Yes. I am using Airtel Internet TV.

Performance is good. With the new V67 firmware, there is no lag. Even in previous firmware, there was slight lag only at the start up.
Navigation keys are touch based so that takes some time to get used to it.

Other than that all mentioned features work without any hitch. Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Built-In Chromecast, YouTube & all the more apps from the Play Store. I like the interface, it's intuitive. If you have non-smart LCD/LED TV than this STB will convert it to Smart TV.

^^^ Thanks for the info.
How much data monthly would STB be consuming for using services? How much is your usage?

It takes up between 30-40 GB per month. Watching a HD video on YouTube or Amazon Prime Video hogs around 1 GB per hour. If you plan to subscribe for streaming services such as Netflix, Prime Video etc then I suggest you to buy a data plan of at least 3 GB/day.

I settled for Amazon Fire TV Stick and continued with Airtel's normal HD box. It worked out very well. Fire TV Stick has almost everything that Airtel's Internet TV box could have, all Indian TV apps, including Live TV streaming.
Upgraded my Idea broadband to 100 GB plan so no issues with Internet data as well. Only that Idea Broadband in not FTTH, internet speed varies, and Videos get low clarity sometimes for Prime Video.
