Hi! Just 2 days after Jio installed the connection, Airtel started installing the boxes on the poles and that's not Fiber. That's copper line (coming over-the-head) with a VDSL Box. So that wires of Connections from each house can be connected to them instead of going to the Blue Box directly.

Confirmation: They re-installed my Airtel Connection Wiring to that box and the wire is Telephone.

Does it mean, Airtel Fiber is not coming?

Yes , no ftth

Surely it will come eventually in the form of a phased rollout. Unless there are permissions issues in your locality but I doubt it. If they can put wires for VDSL then why not FTTH?

^ Actually it's not like Copper Wires from the Exchange to my Pole/Pillar.

It's new copper wire just from the Blue Box (which were installed like 15 years ago) to my home's pillar. And from there they are giving new connection. Blue Box is 30 seconds distance away from my home. There are Blue Boxes I think in every 2rd or 3th Street.

Upon asking them about the reason for this?

They said it was so much cluster of wires from the Blue Box itself to the house (like hundreds of them) which made impossible for them to fix the issues and maintain it.

Actually whenever there was a complaint, they had to manually check each slot and ring them.

Now with the pillar box, they can check the issue via. the pillar box. Pillar box has just 10 - 20 connection limit.

So basically for each pillar box, they have installed around 20-50 meter length of wire only from the Blue Box.

Wires from Exchange to Blue Box are still old underground wiring installed 15 years back.

You don't need permission to install the wire over-the-head this way as this is the same way Excitel, Hathway or any other company is running.

You need permission to underground wiring and there is no underground work involved.

P.S.: A lot of nearby areas (neighbour areas) have already received Airtel Fiber. It's just that our area don't have it right now. So I am asking if this maintenance work means my area won't have it anytime soon?

in my place vdsl maximum bandwidth is 16 mbps and all the copper wires in my area almost in dying condition , one of the line man came my place for patching copper junction box told that 1x32 Fiber splitter installed in my neighbours garage so I will get ftth soon, he also told that primary link cable has be connected through underground so it will take a while at the same time he told me there is another work going in next Street for mounting vdsl cabinet , if that work complete they will only upgrade my bandwidth along with relaying old copper cable with new one, no ftth ,40+ mbps vdsl or FTTH In one area ,not both.

I visited regional airtel corporate office for enquire about leased line for isp, their office looks same as bsnl , the service manager iterated lack of funding and lots of lay-off , no more investment for expanding fibre in the city as Jio pierced their heart of income, only they want to expand network for corporate or business leased line , this was the story before Supreme Court’s order, now can’t imagine what will happen next to airtel , Vodafone or small isps

I didn't completely understood what you are saying. Could you tell me a bit clearly. I am confused.

And, Airtel will be stupid to give 40 Mbps Download and 8 Mbps upload where Shit-tel (Excitel) and JioFiber is offering more than 50Mbps with 1:1 Ratio.

Even though they have installed ftth splitter box in my neighbours house, my chance of getting ftth is 50:50 because they are in the process of mounting vdsl street distribution box next street. Either we get 40mbps + vdsl or ftth

Airtel's backend is always Fiber if you don't know about it.

It's Fiber ---> VDSL for us too. So before Exchange, everything is Fiber only.

Anyways, According to your source if they are installing VDSL Boxes. When Fiber is going to come for us?

Also, What is your city and area?

They are installing fiber in my area as of today definitely the guy you are speaking with just saying so because many have asked him that before and this answer is disappointed but completes any further queries.
BTW i am from Dwarka New Delhi they are not touching ducts and boxes of copper line instead installing all new ducts for fiber.
