This is a letter I sent to Airtel presence(121@in.airtel.com) which should be enough to highlight my issues.

Sir/mam,

4 days back I recharged my phone for Rs. 200 and three days of marginal use later(I even have the sms pack activated so no charges deducted there) my balance is Rs 29.

It has to be a joke.Hardly make too many phone calls either.I use 3g on my mobile but have not downloaded ANYTHING of note.Just the usual android sync etc.Today at noon my balance was 92 rupees and one speedtest later it got reduced to Rs 30.In a span of FIVE, yes, FIVE minutes my balance got deducted by 60 rupees.and around Rs 150 in 4 days of very little use.

I dont know what the problem is or what hidden costs airtel imply upon my number, but this is unacceptable.I was mad enough at airtel for giving me a shit plan for Rs 2200 that I pay for my broadband but those dishonest practices have crept up into the mobile department as well.It is a shame. The amount is not a marginal sum or else I may have even let it be.
I urge someone to look into it as soon as possible and I hope for a response soon.

The mind boggles! On top of this, my 3g pack (rs 99 for 100 mb's) is also now nowhere to be found in UNDER a month of activation.
First broadband and now Mobile? What is wrong with Airtel?
****ing hell.

Hey MohitThe problem is that u did a Speedtest which means that u had to D/l n U/l data to get the result. Hence your balance had be deducted for the same usage. AirTel charges 3G GPRS at 30p per 20KB.I faced the same problem n this was what i got the Reply from Airtel

Thanks for your reply notam. And for what its worth, I think you are right.2 Mb data equals rougly 2200 Kb data. But even that should not be Rs 60 rupees?(Excuse me but my math is pretty pathetic).Anyways, Its not my first gripe with Airtel.Have been paying 2200 rupees for a basically 1 Mbps plan for a while now and I am sick of it.If I don't get a proper reply from their side I WILL switch.@ samm I think you got your answer above bro.😉Airtel used to pretty decent a long while back. But its taken a turn for worse lately.

Wait! You use Airtel 3G? That's Rat shit bro.
Couldn't agree more. 😕

Anyway, your bal. has been deducted as you conducted a speed test. Believe it or not, speedtest consumes lot of upload and download.
I tried BSNL 3G once. My 150 INR bal. was wiped clean within minutes.

You have made a big mistake by using airtel 3G. I suggest you migrate to Vodafone or any other mobile operator.

I agree that it was a mistake going in with Airtel 3g.But as of now I dont see a huge difference in the plans between any of the service providers.Docomo did not get the delhi circle so I dont think that is an option. The only viable ones are Airtel and Voda.

Vodafone? Dude if you really want to use 3G in Delhi, go for Reliance 3G Rs 2100 pack that gives you 21 GB data and the best network coverage.I get 3 Mbps speed on my mobile phone, which supports 3.6 Mbps transfer. Nothing is cheap for us Delhiites.

Users should give direct access to their bank a/c to Airtel so that the customers atleast need not worry about the balance amt in their mobile....lol

Yeah, and face the bigger problem. Airtel wiping their bank account. Exactly.
