Aircel GPRS speed?

Hi Guys,
Just moved in to Aircel from Airtel. I used to have decent bandwidth in Airtel GPRS. But with Aircel the speed is horribly slow. Interestingly the upload speed is 76Kbps against a download speed of just 4Kbps. - Measured from my Xperia X8 Android phone. My measurements are here... AIRCEL Speed Test Reporton AIRCEL

Yes i am also facing the same issue since last couple of days. Actually this was not the case two months back. I was getting the speed of about 135kbps till the last week. I think the aircel had best gprs speed, but as of now it is worst. Did you complain @ CC ?

Thanks, Glad to hear this. I moved to aircel just a couple of days back. Had a tough time in requesting for their OTA settings to arrive. Each time I call up customer care, they tell different process to receive settings. send WAP to 121, PI to 121, BP to 56677, I tried all combination + many more nothing worked. Finally looked up one of the forums here and found that the APN they had pushed to my mobile Over The Air was aircelgprs.po I guessed it didn't work because I am a prepaid subscriber. Called up customer care, they asked me to wait for 24 Hrs for the OTA settings to be pushed. Still nothing happened even after 24Hrs.These are my settings I added manually:Name: aircelAPN: aircelgprs.prProxy: Not setPort: 8081Username: Not setServer: Not setMMSC: Not setMMS Proxy: Not setMMS Port: Not setMCC: 404MNC: 42Authentication Type: NoneAPN Type: NonePS: Pardon me for the double post. So, are you still facing the problem for settings ?In my case i got OTA setting immediately after insert the sim. In my case the APN is aircelgprs (not with the .pr) & even i am Prepaid.If you are using Nokia & if your handset support kindly goto Menu -> Tools -> Sett.Wizard.. you'll get the settings.I'll update whenever the speed problem is resolved.

Thanks smart_techie. I am checking the GPRS bandwidth often. Seeing the same results still, no improvement. Will post it once I see any significant improvement.

i switched from aircel edge to airtel edge. noticed somewhat better connectivity here in gurgaon.

Still getting max. speed of 12kB/s but the average speed is 7-8 kB/s, did complain to CC, but after 3 days received a message informing the the problem is resolved without confirming with me. The Avg Speed is hardly 7-8 kB/s, i now agree with operamaniac that the Airtel Edge is better.

I called up CC, their immediate response was that they are having network issues and that the bandwidth would improve after a day.Trust me, in my place sometimes with Airtel I have got nearly 1Mbps download speed and on an average I used to get around 256Kbps. I am a full time data user. Due to poor signal at my office indoors I switched to Aircel with MNP. Now I would definitely move away from Aircel if the GPRS speed is going to be poor.

R u Sure teejbee you got the speed of 1Mbps speed on Edge Network, (I think max. Edge can use the bandwidth is upto 236kbps). lucky one : ). The Max i got was 32kBps on an average but never 1Mb/s. I was assured when i bought iPhone from Aircel that i will get 3G speed if i use with Aircel Sim, so i bought Aircel (actually was offered free since i bought an iphone from them), but trust me i never got that 3G kind of speed. But i was ok with the 32kB/s speed i got on Edge since it better then others except Vodafone where i got an speed upto 35-38kB.But i found some other ppl complaining at Aircel Store, since there were also other customer who must be misguided by Sales Ppl that they will get 3G speed on Edge network just as was in my case.Anyway, do post here once you get the speed above of 35kBps & as of my case it is around 7-8kBps.

Now im using aircel 3g unlimited 3g pack in hyd.they told that speed upto 128kbps.but even 40 kbps also not coming from 2days onwards.i have given complaint also,but no response and telling that speed wil come like that only.pls dont use aircel especially in andhrapradesh.worst network.service not good..lot of time waste while browsing..any doubt pls mail vkumar.dspx@gmail.com

Ported from Airtel to Aircel Hyd circle and 2G speed is worst I have ever seen.
Airtel 2g was much better compared to Aircel.
whatsapp doesnt even load properly

Yeah. I moved from Aircel to Airtel and the difference in speeds was noticeable here in Gurgaon too.

I guess thats the reason why Aircel give 2G for cheaper rates
