ACT ONT fraud alert.. ACT does not remove ONT on being asked. Don't get ACT in Delhi

I had written this on another thread a while back but decided to make another thread. Anyways I was behind ACT(at all levels) for 2+ months trying to remove their ONT from rented house wall. Before leaving for 1 week I told them the landlord has to renovate and break the wall. Many times met their people who were lying around playing with their phones during service hours. Anyways they didn't remove it and the landlord broke the wall and guess what.. They come to fight the next day. This is another fraud ACT is doing along with false FUP reading, late installation if you don't pay by cheque.

I'm now thinking if they made the box in such a way it can't be opened. I couldn't monitor the installation but later found there wasn't a keyhole on the box.

Anyways, don't get ACT. First they're not trustworthy if they resort to such things. Maybe they do more with our data like the Chinese free VPN services. Second they'll continue to feel they can treat their customer like this. At least don't get the box. But even if you get a connection from someone else's place, ACT is making a pressure situation for them. Maybe take the connection but ask to keep the ONT in your home till someone else takes and ask to not connect ONT power directly to mains line.

In Delhi, Hathway, Airtel, even MTNL(they've expanded FTTH a lot now) have more responsive CS.

On a side note, I'm in Chennai wondering what I should take. Theres an ACT junction box with several connections in my building. But don't want to take them and thinking of BSNL, Hathway, Airtel or Voda YOU

^ If they already have junction boxes in your apartment, just opt for act. They will just take a line from your home to connect to those boxes. vote with your wallets.

It can create pressure for the person having junction box. But I guess most people would understand if you decide to remove box. For me here it doesn't seem to matter much as there are many connections already and the box is opened as opposed to how it was locked without way to open in Delhi. I'm also worried what other shady practices ACT indulges in. In another thread someone mentioned how they removed a p2p site after he visited it. Though Hathway also uses some weird caching and BSNL has malware problems.

Overall my image of ACT as a professional, dependable company is shattered

^ you can see my posts in this forum. I too had to remove ACT box (back when it was beam fiber) from my home when we were shifting to our own home. After many calls they didnt come, so I wrote a mail to their nodal officer and remove the box myself and placed it on terrace. They came and took our boxes. Tikona broadband guys never even bothered to take their equipment and their ubiquitious modem is still in my attic somewhere. My point is this happens to every isp. If you're getting good deal with act, why not opt for it? Ofcourse if you get another option like excitel or hathaway which offer better plans than act iirc you can vote with your wallet and opt for them. I've been using act for 8 years now (back when it was beam) and I hardly had 1 full day of service outage.
