Hi all, I've ordered a Dell Inspiron which should arrive next week. It will come pre-installed Windows Vista. Even after my repeated request to Install XP instead of Vista weren't addressed as the Sales support cann't do anything. Well, then i've decided to install XP over vista (dual boot). After searching alot, i came across intalling XP over Vista has lot of issues as their boot-loaders are different and found complex way to install.:wall: 😕 Has anybody installed XP over Vista and can help?? Thanx in advance

U can just do reformatting and install XP

zactly. and just save the vista stuff for later. you would decide to switch someday or the other.

winxp can be installed after vista for dual boot...with out any problems...installing xp wont overwrite the vista bootloader as vista's bootloader is stored in a folder named "c:\boot" and not in "c:\" after installing xp... you need to make a boot entry for it.... so download Vista Boot Pro and make necessary changes. This sud give you xp and vista dual bootDisclaimer : No guarantee what so ever [😛]

Since there is no data that you want saved, a format followed by a clean install of xp should be a much better option

yeah a format and clean install is a much easier option, unless you want vista as well as xp both.
