While looking for ways to map my port using Yozan router, typed my IP in the browser an lo behold my router administration page opened up, a quick ip scan listed a number of IP's where the router administration page opened up. Tried the usual admin:admin or admin:1234 and whooo i could access their router settings, further if I saved the Airtel acount and password page to my local drive I could use a number of password ulitities which unmasks the password....hows that for security!!My advice to all is to change the router default login and password immediately, if you do not know how ask Airtel people to do so and make sure only you know the new password not even the Airtel guy.

well, what would happen if you get access to my airtel modem settings? just curious... except for tempering with my settings and messing it for me 😀

You can get access to the Airtel account password which can be misused, as happened to me once, someone used my account for more than 30 hours X Rs 30/Hr=900 Rs. Had to fight with Airtel for charge reversal. Most of us use the same password for our Airtel email ID so there goes your privacy. The impact is more for corporate clients.

well i guess most people have the unlimited packages of airtel. but indeed it is a security issue. 🙂

well it is ur fault if u keep pass like admin or 1234 . Its just like saying gmail and yahoo is very unsecure bcoz i keep pass like 1234 😛

i think airtel dudes should have the responsibility to tell the customer how do it... i am scared of touching settings in the backend... 😕

 Let me get one thing clear. I thought the web dist page comes up only on THIS side of the nat, right? I mean, that's the only way a web server can be run on the lan to the wan, right? Sorry if its too basic.

my modem configuration page comes if you type my IP on your browser. sucks. but that is the way it is. you cannot use your system as a ftp server normally...

Use the DMZ feature of ur router. That opens the local IP u select to the internet. Host ur server on that selected IP.Good luck. Happy Hosting... 😀

well, it's same with MTNL as well...u type the IP from anywhere, and my modem config page will be accessible...just wondering if just changing my pwd will be the solution (though haven't changed it yet) DSL 502T has the feature of DMZ, but just wondering if it would really work, as in my case, there's only one PC, anyhow!!! 🤔

No problem coolbuddy, but have u seen the "DSL-502T Firmware" thread ? It says that repeated configuration change locks up the router ! Just set the IP of the only PC u are having in DMZ, but remember to install good AV and Firewall in the PC as it will then be open to the Internet as it will function as a web server or such like that. 😀

hey idiot, when did i talk about frequent "configuration changes"???????????and if i install an AV and a firewall, my system would take ages to get up...so i'd rather be happy without it, for the time being...in case i need to host a server, i'll think about that options...thanks anyway...
