@boygr8: Have you been issued a grid based debit card in the last 1-2 month? This question only applies if you do not currently own a grid based debit card.
 
No I havent been. I saw a message on ICICI's Netbanking site that I will get a Grid based card.....but never got it.I also think RBI regulates Banks
 
ok. here is a question. can you perform online transaction which requires you to validate using information from your card?like transfering money to another account? the system seems to have moved to only accept information from the grid based card at my end. can you check at your end?shucks the irony. i am cursing ICICI Bank and I see their ads on this thread.
 


How do I do that?I clicked on Funds Transfer>Transfer funds to any ICICI Bank Account across India>I get this page"Please note that you can make a payment only after you have registered a payee. Make a Transfer Pay From Rs.(Eg. 5000.00) Transaction Remarks : Pay Now Schedule for later / Standing Instruction "I think its letting me thru??
 
have you got a registered payee? the system needs you to verify a account number to which you can transfer money.after you put in the amount and remarks and click on pay now... it goes to the next screen. for some transactions, it asks for transaction password. while for others it asks for both transaction password and some digits from the grid based card. 😛i am not sure if i should ask you to try conducting the entire transaction process to see if it asks you details from your debit card. 🙁anyways. do post here if they deduct the debit card fee if they indeed deliver you the new grid based debit card.
 
No, I dont have a registered payee.I havent done a transfer b4. All I had done on ICICI is recharge mobile which does ask certain digits of ur card number (but not Grid card)
 
ooh ok that sounds good. when was the last time you recharged your mobile phone?the problem with me is that they have enabled the grid based system in my infinity but the card has still not reached me.and they are charging me again for the debit card when they have already deducted the debit card fee last year in september.
 
I did it the day b4 yesterday.I think they havent enabled the grid thing in my infinityBut I do remember the msg which said that u will not be charged anything for grid card
 
well they surely charged me again for my card. without even delivering to me. thanks for the things you checked for me 🙂
 
what is the problem here, that they charged you for a card :- you did not want ?- or just have not received yet ?
 
the basic problem is that I already have a card. i have paid the annual fee for it in september last year.

now, they believe that my existing card is not safe so i should have a grid based card. i did not ask for a new card. i did not lose my old card. they are practically forcing me to upgrade to their new grid based card.

they have issued me the card. but whatever system they used to deliver the card to me has failed. so i dont have access to that card.

the problems?

they have charged the annual fee for this new card again. from what i see i have paid the charges for having a debit card till september this year. and they did say in the original notification that the card is being issued for free.

they have activated the card in my online banking so i cannot conduct most online transactions coz i cannot verify the validation process coz i do not have the card with me. So basically they activated my card in their system without even making sure that i have received the card.

i hope i explained my issues clearly.

i have contacted the customer support with my queries. they say they are sending the card to my nearest branch. i have been to my branch multiple times in the last couple of days. they are yet to get my card.

i have also asked the customer care to clarify the repeated annual fee. they say, all members are required to pay the annual fee. the point is that i am being forced to pay it twice.

That there seems like a big risk to me.

If your card got stolen, whomever has it can go and buy whatever he wants and you are left holding the bill.

Strange, usually you have to activate it yourself. It is not alive until you say so.
