Indian government delays implementing 2mbps as minimum broadband speed till 2020

I believe we will receive 1mbps by the end of 2017 and 2mbps by 2020. In a nutshell, we are going to be lag behind advanced world forever!

By 2020, We will have 100 millions more Indians putting additional burden on already congested Internet infrastructure.
 
They could have at least implemented 1 Mbps as bare minimum by this year but, alas even that's not going to happen anytime soon.
 
yup. 512kbps should have been boosted to 1mbps for the time being. not doing anything makes it worse. they are not even trying. or putting any pressure on the telecom operators. plus 5 years is a very long time. instead of delaying it by a year every year, they just said... fuck you. now wait for five years.
 
+1 to the 1Mbps min..speed.At least they could have considered doing this to some of the TIER 2 cities as a initiative..
 
right. it is understandable that you cannot give 2mbps in the rural parts of india. but in metro cities? surely. make it like Bharat stage emission standards. but then... TRAI appears to have forgotten the purpose it was created for.
