Movies on Tata Sky DTH Showcase

What a mockery of the term Showcase.No quantity or quality.Show case is supposed to attract potential customers and the present clientele of its best and choicest offerings. Symbol of the best it has to offer. But its turning out to be a KLPD( Mods may delete this if they can figure out what this means).Whats so technical(or pricey for Tata and Sky) about procuring genuine DVD's of good hollywood and bollywood movies and beaming them via their transponders to their customers who in any case are going to pay for them. Apparently their think tank and content managers are having some kind of brain f**t.The least they can do is to change the term showcase to just Movie on demand. C'mon Ratan Tata ---sack your top honcho of Tata Sky ASAP--I bet there would be many others who could do a much better job and earn you more revenue as well. Good and variety of movies that are reasonably priced is what the customer is looking for.Make me a consultant and I'm sure I could do a better job, seriously.

I think showcase is the most useless thing in Tata Sky... Till date they haven't telecasted even a single hollywood movie... I don't know wht they have in mind when they ask for Rs. 75 for a movie... and today they added one more crap channel "Akaash Bangla" on channel 855... and r showing it as test channel... Seems they have removed those crap 13 channels to add new crap ones... 😀

Yeah. I agree. They should reduce the price to 50 and add a wide variety of choices (both english and hindi). Then only I will order movies.

rs 50/- is too high 30 wouuld be a better choicethey are showing the same movie for 3 days and they are having this useless channel in 6 places

You would think that they would realize that people would prefer to watch Bollywood movies at 10 bucks from their local video parlour than paying 75 bucks.

On a more constructive note, may I recommend that not only Hindi and English movies but there are some classic Indian movies in regional languages from all over the country that can be showcased to the rest of Indians. With subtitles, these can be shown, which is bound to bring us together. Being from the cow belt, most of us are quite dismissive about movies from the south of the Vindhyas but some of these are masterpieces. And likewise,movies from the east, like Bangla and Oriya, and from the West from Gujarat and Maharashtra. All regions have something to give to the country. I'm quite positive that even the makers and promoters of these movies would love to show their varied and versatile craft. After all isn't Tata Sky supposed to have an all India presence?But somebody who matters in content providing in Tata Sky has to wake up from his slumber.Just my views and thoughts.

u gotta be kidding me. u are telling me that you would watch regional movies with hindi/english subtitles?

Why not -- let them show Satyajit Ray's classics( I'm not Bengali) or Adoor Gopalakrishnan's movies( I'm not Tamilian either) and I'll see them. Honest so would you.Lets wait for more responses.

its not a bad idea.......it may seem a bit strange because we arent used to seeing regional movies with subtitles. im sure many people would love to watch classics which they cant see because they dont understand the language.

No one is going to pay to watch regional movies unless they are critically acclaimed. The best way would be to show these movies on our very own Doordarshan which is becoming non existent. 😀

I do agree with you that there are a lot of amazing films which are not given much exposure. A classic case is Mani Ratnam's , Kamal Hassan starrer , "Nayakan" which was remade into hindi as "Dayavan". The original Mani Ratnam film is pure brilliance with kamal hassan's acting providing a magnificent finish to the film. Mani Ratnam's film has been named in the famous , TIME magazine as one of the films you should watch in your lifetime.

Also i do not understand tamil or telgu but it was still a fantastic experience to watch that film.

i wud say regional hit films shud be shown but it shud have language (dubbed) option with hindi, english or original as option. subtitles shud also be optional.
