Multi Screen Media to launch Sony Kix to air IPL season 8 - The Economic Times

I wish it IS an April fools joke. They dont have enough content to demand a 2nd channel. Basically they are aping Star Sports strategy of separate channel (and charges) for same content in different language(s)

Ten Sports would follow I guess

Multi Screen Media (MSM) is set to launch its second sports channel, Sony Kix, riding the popularity of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The channel will start telecasting IPL Season 8 matches with commentary in Tamil, Telugu and Bengali, apart from Hindi and English.

It will be beamed nationally alongside Sony Max, the official broadcaster of the twenty20 cricket league.

The tournament is starting on April 8 and the final is on May 24.

Ten Sports already has 5 channels -
Ten Sports, Ten Cricket, Ten Action, Ten Golf, and Ten HD.
TEN can also rename it to Ten Sports 1/2/3/4 to simplify things like Star Sports 🙂

They should launch a dedicated cricket channel named Sony Fix.
