Digsby: An instant messenger for social networking fans

yes i am facing from 2days. is it only pidgin OR official client as well

it connects after 4-5 tries.

Update:
yesterday it was connecting after 4-5 tries.. right now its not connecting at all 🙁

----------

wow looks like Pidgin problem. I tried with gyachi and it connected instantly.

I stopped using Pidgin as they are lazy at introducing features. I found this new IM called Digsby. Just give it a try, bet you will not go back to Pidgin.Digsby even has social networking website integration, like Facebook and MySpace.

heh i tried digsby when it was launched. it is pretty annoying. in your face. pidgin has a low profile. it does not blast in your face thankfully.

I agree that Pidgin guys are lazy. Pidgin's only advantage is plugins.

From last 1 or 2 years I am noticing that mostly they are just fixing bugs. New features are very rare.

Their attitude is like, they will do it only if they personally need it. They dont consider public demands. Common when ur app is so popular u shud take some responsibility even if u r doing it for free.

Most feature request tickets are closed by categorising them as "Plugin required" and leaving it for someone to make a plugin.

As per them, "Voice and video" was top priority when they renamed Gaim to Pidgin but its been more than 2 years and "Voice and video" is still looking at same stage. Infact, they find it funny to fool users on "April 1st" by declaring Pidgin now has Voice and Video.

I am waiting for empathy.

----------

Checked digsby website, its still in Alpha and not available for Linux.

heh yeah. when i clicked on download they showed three icons. i was assuming they had launched it for mac and linux. but no sire. they are just fooling you 😛i installed the latest version. it is still very tacky for my taste. i moved to pidgin coz it's not. and lack of development in pidgin is probably the reason ubuntu is going to replace it with empathy. i tried empathy on ubuntu and found it to be even more basic 😀 but it does voice and video i think so that's great.
