i had like to know too. their latest tv ads showcases a pen drive that runs right on the power socket. is it usable?

right. i plan to test one out in the coming weeks. need to replace my airtel connection which is well obscenely priced. i hope it works well for my dad's requirement.

Just one thing about MTS. They never give advertised speed. At least for me.

on wireless you are never really expected to get advertised speeds. :\

To add to that, rcom has unlimited pro3 revB for 999. You might to want to check that out too. I've heard good things about the revB network in Bangalore.

I *think* it does not have any FUP. Verify the same with the store.

Then again, wireless should be your last option.

got the details about the mts dongle thing from the local market. the unit costs around rs. 1000. it is a postpaid connection. you get 5gb at night and 5gb during day per month for around rs. 500 plus taxes. the guy in the local market claimed that he gets 4mbps on his computer at his location. i would probably get a unit after a few weeks once the construction work is over and i have moved upstairs.

i am not worried about speed. dad just needs something to keep an eye on stocks etc. what i need is stability. which i am worried about with mts. it is a postpaid connection so getting it disconnected in case it sucks would be annoying too. just realized today that bsnl has STILL NOT sent me the refund cheque that was supposed to arrive at my place 2-3 months ago. would need to go there as well. what hell.

so what would you suggest? i need something that can work from a power switch! and is plug and play!

@chromaniac

Get the unlocked Tata photon max WiFi dongle from eBay. I've no idea about MTS CDMA plans, but I can list TATA/RCOM's plans if you're interested.

If nothing, it'll at least ensure that you aren't stuck with a locked dongle from mts.

Won't the MTS guy give a demo at home?
