That reminds me...once I jumped a red light coz it was empty all around but was caught. A lady driving scooty was right behind me and she also jumped following me. She got caught as well. I am pretty sure she must have blamed me.
I think the cameras are facing both ways on the same side, for situations like these. If the cameras miss the number plate in incoming direction then maybe they can get it on going away direction.
I'll admit I have been caught twice on the same red light in my car, just for stopping on the zebra crossing on my way to work. Once it was from front(evening, lots of traffic behind me) and once from the back(morning, no traffic behind me). Challaned for jumping red light.
Not all places may have dual cameras pointed at the same spot. But have seen dual facing cameras(on both sides) on highways for sure.
Seems to have worked on me. I always slow down now even when its like 2s to yellow and stop well before zebra crossing(the camera angles can make it seem like you have crossed).
even if that is the case, you get some time to actually slow down. either you or the guy in front would notice the cameras lol. my last speed ticket was quite a while ago. i was driving down a bridge which kind of increased my speed and the cops were waiting at the bottom of the bridge. i was barely 4kmph above speed limit. now i slow down while coming down the bridge by habit because of this.
and of course, the challan that got my license suspended for three months which basically put me off driving. took a left turn on shah jahan road at india gate. there was a red light on the right side of the road. i had never seen that red light before. i didn't notice it. turned left on the india gate circle. a group of cops were waiting. 2 other cars which made the same mistake as mine were getting challaned. nice little trap they set for people who didn't take that route on a daily basis. why would you put the lights on the center divider especially at a place where left turn is not free. anyhoo. learnt my lessons.
I got a red light jump Challan when I was taking left turn towards kamal cinema from the ring road. It has always been a free left turn but then I received the Challan. Next time I saw that they have put a small 'left turn not free' board hidden in the trees.
