Hey Hitman! Its good to hear someone is lookin forward to their conxn from Tata.I'm expecting the Tata guy to come around in "48 hours" now...Could you please tell me how much EXACTLY you paid him? Because a friend of mine told me that they might ask for 'extra wiring' charges...

airtel rocks at that. since they do not want us to do the local wiring, they do all the wiring for free. i have got the entire house wired for airtel connection. but they did not ask for a single extra penny...

He charged 500+50 tht is total of 550 rs for the wiring and no other charge like security deposit etc. He told me they r offering a scheme in which we just have to pay 550 instead of ususal 2000 for installation. U have to pay tht using cheque in favour of VSNL He told me tht every user will get personal piece of wire coming directly from the main server located in tht area and no silly hubs etc will be used. So i suppsoe it will decrease the downtime all the way. In tht 550 they include tht modem charges and no monthly modem rental is to be given like airtel but ya the package r expensive but i don't have airtel in my area so have to use this only . Is there anyone using tata broadband and would like to share his experience ?? 😀

Hi Sushubh, After thinking over what vebmetal said, and talkin to airtel customer care, i've decided NOT to go for airtel 🙁 because i simply dont believe that they can MAKE me take up another phone (i have my rights on what to accept you know!) and my dad would kill me if i tried to disconnect my BSNl landline. What i want is CHEAP, fast internet with unlimited downloads,.....So my search is now down to Tata and Reliance(if i ever get their phone number)

🙂 best of luck. but a second phone line at home can come handy. i have seen instances with BSNL going down and the service guys taking a week to repair it 🙂 but everyone has their own reasons.

Thanks a zillion HitmanBut whats the difference between a Router connection (rs.1500) and Usb modem connection(rs.500) ??

Excuse me Hello.....Why are u comparing the home based plan of Bsnl which is offering 256kbps @ 500....Going by the rules BSNL is offering 1gb for rs.500...Now Tata is offering 2 Gb for 512kbps at Rs.1600 (1575/-)....Now lets look for a similar plan in BSNL...what do i find..512kbps @ rs.1800 but with d/l limit upto 5Gb..Now hows that for comparisn...

Next time u compare something make sure they belong to the same category

weell, different companies provide diffenent options at different prices... its almost impossible to remember them all....and to see which one is suitable for you...

if i can just download 2 gigabytes. it does not matter if i download it at 256 or 512... it is a matter of a couple of hours...

hmm... sorry if I am being intrusive, but I don't understand your logic behind preferring Tata.

You don't have to disconnect your BSNL line... you just get another landline from Airtel, and since you would be paying either 300 or 500 rupees (depending on the phone package you take), it will just make your BSNL bill cheaper by that amount every month... i.e. if you balance your calls between the two lines. And as Sushubh mentioned, you get a backup line in case BSNL is down.

Basically:
1) You get unlimited downloads with both
2) Airtel will have at least the same speed as Tata (though I suspect that Airtel would give better speeds);and
3) Airtel is cheaper, even with the phone!!!

So according to your criteria, Airtel is a much better match.

Frankly, I don't care what you take... your life, your money and all that... just wondering if I am missing something here 🤔

exactly. we got 2 lines of airtel here. we have use of none. but they come handy at times... the best thing is the reliability and the customer support. 🙂 but ofcourse, it depends upon what i thinks 🙂

Sorry vebmetal dude, i'm still 19 years old, with no cash to call my own... i'm lookin for a low cost 'hi-speed' internet, as someone did a comparison before b/w airtel and tata, i would like to add that for a comparison for a budget upto Rs.1500, it may be ok, but for 'confirmed less than Rs.1000' and ONLY net, i'd rather go for Tata...
plus, i use the phone mainly for a lot of incoming, so it would just be a waste...
BTW my dad is still killin me, so i gotta jump the gun (in a manner of speaking)..

Oh, and i'm still hurting under their customer care service from Airtel mobile services ( can we start a " I Hate so&so Mobile Service" thread?

Can anybody tell me y these tata ppl r digging up the roads for laying up cables. When i asked the guy he told me they have some agreement with NDPL (north delhi power limited) abt laying of cables underground but he didn't clarified it much. Anyone have any idea wht's going on ??
