Disney+Hotstar News & Updates

😳

Disney+ to launch in India on April 3 – TechCrunch

The company said it is raising the yearly subscription cost of the combined entity, Disney+Hotstar, to Rs 1,499 ($20), up from Rs 999 ($13.2) that it previously charged for its most premium content on Hotstar. The $20 yearly subscription tier will offer over 100 series and 250 superhero and animated titles, including Disney+ Originals and shows from HBO, Fox, and Showtime, the company said. It will also include access to everything that Disney+Hotstar customers are availing at $5.3 tier.

Disney is offering a more affordable yearly tier that costs Rs 399 ($5.3) — up from Rs 365 — that will include movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, access to live sporting events and a wide catalog of movies and shows, and original shows produced by Hotstar. It will not include Disney+ Originals.

My Sports Plan 299 (not available for new users) was auto-renewed back in March-mid. But even that feels useless, as I had got for sports - but looks like normalcy of sports will take a while now.

All Hotstar Twitter accounts renamed. Just noticed.

They will probably wait a few months before rebranding it fully to Disney+. Let people get used to the idea that both are now one and same.

Looks like VIP Plan will have ads in between movies and shows. Is this new?

Also, Disney+ replied in a support tweet today that they are working on bringing Dolby Sound. Hopefully?

I always used premium subscription but I have been told by others that VIP subscription had ads. Only premium is without ads.

I am getting Dobly 5.1 on Mandalorian on Fire Stick 4k. No Dolby on any other titles and any other aps yet. They say It is available for only Mandalorian and available on Fire Stick, Android TV OS and Apple TV devices

Will watch out for ad next time - but at the moment dont remember seeing much - but then dont watch much anyway. I had got the annual sports pack and got a free upgrade to VIP - So with no new sports content ongoing, its temporarily a dead investment.
