Hi. I recently got an MTNL TriB590NU Plan (nothing but problems since day one). Rented DSL-502T Router from MTNL. Router Firmware Version is reported as V2.00B01T01.DI.20050121. Using a WindowsXP SP2 with USB and onboard NIC. Router connected to PC through USB.I changed the passwords both for DSL Login as well as Admin login. Unfortunately I forgot the Admin password and did a Factory Reset to erase it using the pinhole at the the back of the Router. Since then, my WAN Status is shown as Disconnected. I changed the DSL password back to the original one (my telephone C.A. nuumber) and that password is working since I can login to MTNL Account webpage. I've tried uninstall and reinstall of USB drivers, Router power cycle, Reboots, used LAN connection instead of USB, tried connecting with Windows PPPOE dialer etc. To the best of my belief all the settings I've entered are also correct (PPPOE, PPPOE LLC, corrrect username and password, DNS Servers etc.). Still WAN Status remains Disconnected and WAN IP Address, DNS etc. are shown NA. The indication LED lights are all working properly and I can successfully Ping 192.168.1.1.Somebody please help me...what went wrong. MTNL has not once responded to my complaints even though I registered one 2 days back. (I suspect they are deliberately ignoring my complaint beacuse I complained against the local exchange employees in the past with the GM and Executive Director for supplying me wrong package and acting rudely and I don't expect any help from their side).

Please see the thread regarding 502T setup started by mayank.

Well...I had entered all the information though not through the Wizard. But to be certain I followed all the instructions in Mayank's post to the letter, but no use. Its still disconnected. Is it possible that MTNL had hard-wired some settings in the Router and doing a hard-reset erased those?

OK the connection was corrected by an MTNL support guy who finally found the time to come to my place. The only setting I was missing (and also mayank's post was) which he changed (enabled it) was Remote Web Management on Tools > Admin Page.First thing I did after restoration was "Save the Settings to Local Hard Drive"

nocaps,I'm running the 502T on DataOne Kolkata, and it was me who had posted for mayank's topic. But, we don't need remote web management enabled on our routers to access service ! I'm having it disabled and accessing the service fine ! Is MTNL trying to remotely manage ur connection...(spying/limiting traffic) I suppose ???

Ahem...err sorry about that mate. Maybe I meant mayank's thread 😉

Yes ok I disabled the Remote Web Management too and its working fine so far. Maybe he did it for one time configuring or something.

(spying/limiting traffic) [/b]

Why would they need to do anything special to spy on what we are using the connection for? I think they can do that anyways, Remote Management or not. And as for traffic...well I don't see any signs of limiting so far. I'm having some problems with MTNL usage logs though, times not matching with mine.
