Amazingly, the consumer is waiting for the launch of this car as they normally do for movie releases. Coincidently, the launch would be coinciding with the launch of the much-awaited movie from the Yash Raj Camp, Bunty Aur Babli. This week would see both these products coming out waiting for the public to embrace them.

Suzuki will be launching their world car Swift this week on the May 27. The product is aimed at consolidating the market position for the current leader as it see the threat from the Korean auto giant Hyundai and the internal competition in the form of Tata Motors. They own a majority share in the Maruti Company and are the largest manufacturer of automobiles in India.

Market analysts are quite sure that the latest product Swift from the Suzuki range would be a sure shot success if priced competitively. And it will help Maruti gain the market image it lacks for ultra modern cars. Maruti is generally perceived as a maker of budget cars with dull outlook. Swift is a major change in policy for the company as it arrives in the country just a few months after the global launch.

I think I read somewhere that the movie and the release of the Swift are intentionally synchronized, i.e. as a marketing thing.... I could be wrong though.....Anyone have any clues as to the price?

the base model would be less than 4 lakhs for some tax benefits atleast in the delhi metro. and yea, the car features in the movie. there is a collaboration.

Finally Maruti has revealed the prices of the Swift (not very swiftly though...i've been waiting for what seems like ages!!). The prices are as follows:Lxi 3.84 lakhsVxi 4.05 lakhsZxi 4.84 lakhs(ex-showroom Delhi)This has really opened up the car market fully....One thing that such an aggressive pricing has done is it has thrown direct competition like Getz (4.5 lakhs base model) and Corsa Sail (4 lakhs base model) straight out of the window. But another interesting possibility is the cannibalisation of Maruti's own closely priced models like the WagonR and the Zen, alongwith the fairly popular and SRK promoted Hyundai model Santro. The car market dynamics are in for a huge change. Maruti as always has given a very competitive price tag on its prized and hugely awaited model, Swift.Let's hope this makes all cars go cheaper in the long run....if that happens (looks like that to me) then kudos to Maruti and all the very best to Swift!

It looks really good from the side, but, aesthetically, the rear is rather weak..... oh well..... anyone driven one yet / know when and where (in Delhi) one can take it out for a test drive? Also, definite props for the fact that they are offering power steering and an AC as part of the basic setup! (as well as power windows and central locking in the VXi and ZXi).

The day finally arrived and the car everyone seems to be waiting for is here. Suzuki Swift is available in the Maruti Showrooms for everyone to checkout and order. The car of the future from the stables of Suzuki is finally launched in the Indian market. The launch ceremony saw the Managing Director Jagdish Khattar talking to the media: “We expect Swift with three distinct features of European styling; Japanese precision and global appeal will make its presence felt in India’s growing auto market”.

The company is launching three separate variants of the Swift. The name scheme is as usual typical Maruti style: Lxi, Vxi, and the Zxi the top end model. The prices are announced with the ex-showroom prices for the three models in Delhi being: Rs 3.87 lakh for Lxi, Rs 4.05 lakh for Vxi and Rs 4.85 lakh for Zxi.

The company has had a smashing opening period for the car as thousands of people have registered for the car, which is now expected to see some delay in delivery. The company would be delivering the car for the consumers in the showrooms in June once there are enough models produced in the plant.

They did show the car in the film BUNTY and BUBLY....before its offical launch...again in an amitabth and abishek starrer..makes sense to me

Its a great car, great looks on the outside, but budgeting on the plastics especially on the side panels and the wipers really suck. And there's this big void , there's no music system!!!!!That was hardly expected of a car with these features. I booked the ZXI as soon as the news came out and i expected a music system with surround matching the other features. The after sales is bad too, backed up with Maruti's strict injunction against any offers!!! To summarise i feels its great engineering levelled by really bad management.Needless to say that would drive a lot of the crowd its intended for, away.

Heaven! or Hell = Maruti Swift  I had booked Swift Zxi as a gift to my father on May 29, 2005 with 100 K as booking amount with delivery affirmation from dealer on June 6th. The dealer called me on May 7th and said that please deposit the full amount and you will get the car before 10th. Later the date changed to June 15th, then June 25th, then June 30th, then July 5th and finally July 15th. Now the dealer has said that I will tell you about delivery on July 13th. I have booked my car with PREM MOTORS, Gwalior with total amount of Rs. 4.82 + and still waiting. Prem Motors and Maruti takes customer as there slaves for granted. I also talked to Maruti help line and then to senior manager from regional office, but I got an all negative answer. It’s better to look out for alternative car or put my money in fixed deposit! If I will get my delivery on July 15th swift will be my 5th car from Maruti. Well this is the respect Maruti/Dealer gives to its loyal customers. To HELL with Maruti  .Well to get on technical details, I am quite impressed with space, engine power, and over all aesthetic but all of the above are no good if I can not get car delivered. 🙁

Maruti has had an amazing response from the Indian customers for their Suzuki Swift vehicle. The car is having a waiting period running in months. So much so, that they are now on the verge of losing customers because they cannot deliver their vehicles on time! Waiting customers to earlier posts on this site have shown frustration at the dealer’s response to the delivery of their vehicle.

However, Maruti has more plans for their vehicle as it beat out the competition in terms of sales. The company has reportedly decided to leverage the popularity of this cute looking car with a sedan version planned for next year. The three-box version should give Maruti a vehicle to replace or compliment their Maruti Esteem model, which has taken a beating in the recent times to competition from Tata Indigo and Hyundai Accent.
