Speeds fluctuating greatly in cycles

For the last 2 weeks, my postpaid Tata 3G dongle (MF631) is giving me speeds which fluctuate greatly in cycles.

From a high of 1 Mbps from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m., the speed crashes to 50-100 kbps for the next 19 hours.

This cycle is unfailingly repeated day after day.

I have tried changing PCs/dongles without any change in results.

Is my experience unique or are there others with a similar problem?

Any help or info regarding this issue will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

PS Signal strength is always very poor showing 1 bar at the most.

Also considering that Tata 3G's customer service is always either pathetic or having a system downtime, switching to another ISP seems to be the only option left for me.

How much is the signal in dBm? Anything below -100dBm isn't good, and you should change your network if that indeed is the case!

Looks like network congestion to me, apart from that.

Thanks a lot for your input.

Unfortunately ZTE's MF631 3G USB dongle does not have a signal strength indicator.

However I managed to get an explanation from Tata 3G Customer Care saying that their signal is being obstructed in my locality by overhead high tension power transmission lines which are just 20 metres away.

So until a new mobile tower is commissioned, there is no hope of any improvement in the situation.

Changing my operator is the only option left for me.
