Mac Id Rejection

recently my net was down coz my MAC ID was being rejected from the server (as the mtnl cs said) so can anyone enlighten me what actually this is coz they were talkin abt some hackin stuff.... didnt get them actually.... how to avoid this next time coz i was offline for 3 days...

are you trying to use ur internet account on the same line you registered for ?.. and are you using the modem provided by mtnl or your own?... in case u are using your own modem then have you informed mtnl?

i m using the same line.... i bought D-Link modem as instructed by MTNL... the net was workin fine for 4-5 mnths but suddenly i got disconnected for an un-familiar reason (MAC ID REJECTION)

looks like mtnl has somehow managed to unregister the mac id of your D-Link modem. tell the cc guy this exact samme thing and if possible try to talk to someone senior. also just try waiting .. mabe somebody who has had a similar problem comes comes along and tells you what is causing this problem. (i mean somebody here on the forums .. dont expect mtnl cc to call u 🤔)

Are u ppl from delhi? i dont think mtnl mumbai has MAC binding at all.i connect to any netwrk card and it works (bridged mode).and if mtnl does MAC binding on router MAC address then i dont thinkbridged mode will ever work as ur network card will always have diffMAC address.update: as ur plan is unlimited ofcourse u r in delhi

Mac Id is plain shiit ! That CC is fooling(it's there job) you !! Explain in full what happened , status of modem , whcih modem etc etc also are you sycing at 2mbps(many prob happens due to it) when the prob started??? So that someone could help!!

well my probs werePPPoE light didnt come up...My modem is D-Link 502T....N i was on 2mbps line but jus before this problem (1-2days) i was put back to 256kbps....I had this problem for 3 days as they thr was a SUNDAY in betweeen.... so server room people dont work on that day....Well now its fixed.... MTNL CC called me jus to check wether the net is workin n well my net was workin...The CC didnt actually explain the problem or its reason or fixin process.... he jus said that dont connect the power cable of ur modem untill the PC completely boots up (unless i am at the main desktop)...... he said this is a new problems faced by customers using VISTA......

weird. unless u r using USB and there is some kind of driver problem in vistaOR there is PPPoE dialer problem in vista, it shud work.however in any case modem on PPPoE mode shud work, whether ur comp is onor not.

@gavnit mac id rejection is not plain shit..its a genuine problem @Amish mac binding has been implemented both in Delhi and Mumbai.. Actually port binding both in delhi and mumbai is implemented using mac address binding only but its not ur routers mac ID that is bound to ur account, instead its the MAC ID of the DSL port to which ur line is connected to in the DSLAM at the exchange. Basically when port binding is done the BRAS is configured to accept ur username/password only when it comes from a particular MAC address from the DSLAM ie the MAC ID of the port on which ur line is connected. So anybody getting a username/pwd invalid error inspite of it being correct needs to complain to CC and get his MAC ID released..

No iam not playing google google..Fact that MTNL implements port binding thru mac ID is not something that u find on google ..

Neither am i a technically qualified person..If i have knowledge abt certain things its coz of 2 things

1) Spirit of enquiry - i dont take things lying down..i like to investigate things and get to the bottom of any issue that crops up
2) common sense

I had a port binding problem coz of which my net was down for 2 dayz..whenever customer care called me, i asked them questions and this question answer session led to the discovery which i have mentioned above..

any more questions mr. aspiring hacker?
