I heard Tarang phones can be used for internet speeds of 144kbps. I am not meaning the dial up connection (Sancharnet)

I need the clear details.

Their web is not furnished with details.

Is there anyone who uses it. Please do response.

Its no better then a dial up.

@poppy , perhaps you are looking for this :

Unlimited internet Plan @250/p.m for it CDMA 2000IX based WLL connections .
However this plan is applicable only to the rural areas... Also it is experimental
basis for the period of one year initially...

here is the news (Oct 2006) : http://bsnl.co.in/newsdetailed.php?news_id=327

CDMA 2000 1X details are here : http://www.bsnl.co.in/newsdetailed.php?news_id=231

As I understand it :

It is not truly unlimited for just Rs. 250/- per month
It has usage charges of 0.60 Rs/min during peak hours
and 0.20 Rs/min during off peak hours .

And it is just an alternate access to Internet connection ,
as BSNL's broadband is not available at most of the rural
areas ...

Hi Everyone,Recently I applied for BSNL landline with DataOne but got a Tarang connection as there was no direct line in my area. I want to know details regarding accessing internet through this CDMA telephone (Huawai T1 ETS 2288). How much is the acutal speed, access charges, security deposits, connection cord etc. Any information provided will be highly apprecited. Thanks.

@ rishisingh , can you pls see the above post (#3) ...
for more details , pls contact your BSNL Exchange .

What I really needed was a comparison between DataOne and Internet on CDMA WLL because I opted for the former & got the latter.

When I tried to connect my BSNL Huawei ETS2288 CDMA phone through a USB to serial cable then it is shown as unknown device. Whenever I run the WLL Modem driver then it asks for install TIUMP USB serial port driver. Please help !!

BSNL Staff is clueless about the unlimited option. My analysis says that it does not include the dial up access charges because1. It will become unaffordable for people in rural areas.2. The service is not a regular dial-up but access code based.I managed to get the cable from BSNL (and how?). The cable is in short supply and these people didn't even have the driver. So this service can be availed by some lucky people. Regarding it's speed, it better than dialup (100kbps+), more reliable & quick. Good option in wireless only if you manage to get the cable 🙂

Did you get any clarification on the Internet charges? (by now you must have received a few bills) Is it similar to MTNL's Garuda WLL FWP Unltd. Internet @ Rs299/- plan? (Max. Rs299/- + Taxes for unlimited internet only, call/sms charges extra)I frequently require internet access in a rural area with no broadband and I wouldnt mind going for it if it really works at 100kbps and unlimited internet.

:yahoo:hello, i am going to get this unlimited inernet. i like to know, is there is any extra charge for the usage excluding Rs.250...?

Probably itstime for me top step in and tie up a lot of loose ends. I am a user of the tarang internet connection for about a year. Its satisfactory for only normal browsing. herculaen downloads are not recommended and at the same time upload is very VERY slow. Any more info you need dont hesitate to ask as my bro is a sub div off in bsnl and i have all the info on this topic.

Could you please inform me whether they're really giving Rs. 250 p.m. unlimited access right now? A friend of mine does have a FWT WLL connection with surfing facility (supposedly 30p./min, 100kbps+). Trouble is, the local exchange is avoiding the unlimited scheme! They are telling something about lack of supply of equipments! Are they talking about BSNL ICC (Internet Calling Card)? He isn't interested in any further investment? Why should he? Isn't "unlimited" merely a contract between the user and BSNL? What has that got to do with any "equipments"? He does have a working connection, isn't it?Will you please clarify? Thanks.:wall:

When they say 250 per month, it means 250 per month flat for internet access.....there are phone charges. there is no relation between your fwt and your local exchange....its directly connected to the head of your secondary switching area......which is the head of your SSA you can find at your local exchange,....probably the people at the exchange dont know what you are talking about....you better find out from the SSA headquarters.
