Airtel launches Wynk Music – a carrier agnostic mobile music streaming application featuring 1.7 million songs including Hindi, regional and international hits. Stream and download songs by genres, moods, artists or simply tune into one of the many Radio channels and let it surprise you. Plus, it’s all ad free!

Wynk Plus:
• Unlimited in-app downloads at Rs99 per month. Download songs to play them offline
• First month subscription is free as trial offer.
• Special subscription price for airtel customers is Rs29.

Wynk Freedom*:
• Unlimited streaming and downloads at Rs129 per month. No data charges apply
• First month subscription is free as trial offer.

All payments can be made using Carrier billing**, net banking, credit or debit card. Subscription automatically renews every month unless auto-renew is turned off a least 24 hours prior to expiry of current subscription period.

*Wynk Freedom is only available for subscription to airtel 3G customers.

lol. I'm not sure about the FUP clause for non airtel customers. But damn, this is good!

Album categorization is a bit poor and I think quite a few albums are incomplete.
Oh and it works pretty well on 2G too!
 
I hope other carriers are also forced to launch similar services. I am quite happy with Idea so it would be nice for them to bring something similar to the market. Although, it's a shame that Google Play Music All Access (sigh) is still not in India.
 
Though of course... Free data streaming is something that Google would probably not able to offer in India. And if they do partner with carriers for it, it would most likely be with the market leader 😛

I am wondering who is powering the tech behind this app. I cannot simply believe that Airtel developed this service in house. Their mobile app for Android sucks ass.
