Low SNR even after new line?

Hello folks,

I'm having low SNR ,packet loss and frequent disconnections problem from past 1 week. After two days of struggle with BSNL lineman, they finally changed the damn line. However problem still persists. Nothing has changed. They recently changed their " Box" (WTheck is it? At exchange) which had my connection port in it. They're unable to rectify the issue and giving me excuses like we don't hve specialists available currently at our exchange.

Now i'm getting SNR as low as 0.5 ( yes 0.5 downstream!) Packet loss is crazy at 30-70%! Ping is so damn high!

i'm using G.DMT mode which gives best stability but SNR won't go above 6db! I don't even have telephone or splitter. My router is few months old .Could you guys please advise me on what to do?

Also let me know how much ping you guys are getting at 198.136.44.95

MTNL VDSL.

sorry for kinda hijacking this thread but can someone clarify this to me.

these are my values: Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin (0.1 dB): 125 150
Attenuation (0.1 dB): 220 142

from what i have read SNR should be greater than 40,so thats fine for me BUT attenuation should be less than 30,i think, for line to work fine.I am on 8Mbps connection on airtel and i get more than 8Mbps before FUP hits me.no connection issues whatsoever.

So why such high attenuation isnt causing any problem for me?

If it is working fine, don't bother about those values.

I get this on my BSNL connection with a pretty good SNR margin. I guess we can't do anything about it.

Hmm, they changed the underground line which connects to DP box, now I'm getting 25db down snr. Connection seems to be stable!
