Respected Sir,

I want to ask you an important question though. I have Nokia E5-00 phone. It has BL-4D battery which is 1200 mAh, 3.7V and 4.4Wh.

Now, inspired by a lot of power-bank advertisements online I finally bought a power-bank named 'Adcom P1120 11200 mAh Black Power Bank with Samsung Cells' which is sold in India by 'Adcom India', you may check it's website. So, the main concern I have is that its not at all charging my phone. It has two USB power outlets namely of 5V-1A and 5V2A. I tried connecting my phone to these both but none charged my phone. As of now I had returned this power bank to the online seller.

So what I want to ask is that is there any restrictions on Nokia phones (technically) that it won't be able charge by power-bank or was my power-bank faulty? I tried the same power-bank on one of my Android phone and it started charging it. Its only my Nokia phone that shows no sign of charging at all when connected to it. So, I decided to cross check my Nokia phone. It charges perfectly wen I connect to PC USB port, also started charging when I connected it to my Android phone's wall USB charger (its 5V-500mA) and power-bank charged my Android phone too. So the only thing which is not happening is Nokia not getting charged with the power-bank.

Is there a problem with power-bank itself or is it that Nokia won't be able to charge using 1A socket on the power-bank? For reference I would also like to furnish my Nokia phone's stock charger specifications, its output is 5V-890mA.

I request you experts at TH to please guide me through this ASAP because that online merchant is about to ship a replacement for my Power-bank assuming that its faulty. Please help me in this situation.

Thank You,

Vaibhav Dingre

Looks like the phone is blocking current because it probably cannot handle 1A/2A?

Makes sense. There were no 1A/2A chargers when that phone was released. Best not to use them.

If it were me, I'd just buy a spare battery. AFAIK, that battery is fairly commonly available.

So shall i ask for a refund rather than replacement? Are you sure it won't charge my phone?

I suggest getting a refund and get the Xiaomi battery which is likely to be better than the one you are getting. And no, the Nokia phone is quite old and it might not be safe to charge its battery using these modern power banks with higher capacity outputs 😀

Never mind. Xiaomi is as expected out of stock. Get a spare battery as Manu indicated. Get it from an authorized Nokia Store because you are very likely to get a fake online.

Yeah, i forgot to mention one important thing. The power bank i received was in unsealed condition and it was not having stock cables to connect different phones. Means someone has intentionally shipped me the power-bank without stock cables from the vendor site. So shall i wait for the replacement ad check it using its own cables?

The decision is yours. I would personally not accept a product whose packaging has been tempered with. Especially when it comes to power banks and batteries.

Sir, its packaging was intact from outside, its when i opened the package the cables were missing. So shall i wait for the replacement and then check for it?

Please do not post reviews on MouthShut because that company disclaimer: allegedly makes money by charging for removing negative reviews.

I guess just Google around and check for MouthShut's reputation. In my opinion any business whose revenue model depends upon the popularity of negative reviews has a very large incentive to charge to remove the same reviews. Yelp does it as well.
