Looking for a new smartphone for my dad. He is using a Samsung Corby text and has never used a touchscreen phone before. I need something that will be easy for him to use, doesn't need a ton of features. A good camera would be helpful.

Budget will likely be around 10-15k. I would prefer to avoid micromax/karbonn/lava/xolo.

Confused between these:
Moto G
Asus Zenfone 5
Xiaomi Mi3

Which one of these is would be best suited for him? Also, which phone gives the best bang for the buck? I was planning on installing some launcher that would simplify the interface a bit.

Feel free to recommend any other options outside this list... I might even go for the Moto E but I guess that's pretty much the only option in the 7-9k range I will consider.

Any opinions on non-android phones for this? Windows phones/blackberry 10 (Q5 maybe)?

In my opinion Xolo is better than Asus or Xiaomi (support wise)

Havent used / seen any of 3 you mentioned.

Bought a Xolo A500 for mom some time ago. The camera is unusably bad and the touch screen doesn't register presses in certain areas. I would rather avoid such brands now.

May be you got unlucky?! I bought 3 different Xolo models, all working fine! Touchwood please!! 😀

@amish Possibly unlucky. But it does say something about the quality level, doesn't it - that it can be inconsistent.

@indianarchie well that way, 1 of samsung i bought was faulty from day 1. My own Sony ericsson has touchscreen issue after 5-6 months. Now replacement touchscreen is working great from almost 2 yrs (touchwood again!)

Electronics part can develop fault, be it of any company.
