I switched to D-Link 2750U just yesterday. Windows File Sharing used to be a breeze through my old MTNL modem. But ever since I switched to using this 2750u modem neither the desktop can find my laptop nor vice versa. Solid Explorer from the phone can find neither two of the devices. Now this may come of as a noob question but I seem to kind have missed something which should make it work.
Can anyone walk me through the steps I should check for it to work again? HALP!

Have you set the new network as 'Home Network' and not Public? Is password protection switched on in Homegroup settings? Is NAT and UPnP switched on in the router? Also can you ping the other PC?

Network is set to private. Not sure how to make it public.

Password protection is switched on in Homegroup. NAT and UPnP is also switched on.
And nope I cannot ping the other devices on their DHCP allocated IPs.

Check if there is client isolation checked under the wireless settings tab on the router as this seems the possible reason here. Also check that all client are on a single subnet 192.168.1.x which normally would be.

There is MultiAP isolation which is turned on. Under advanced wireless settings there is an option "User Isolation" which is off. Turned off the MultiAP isolation and rebooted the router. Still no luck. Laptop says there is no homegroup in the network to join to.
Also after this change the desktop to which the modem is connected doesn't seem to have any IP of its own when I view the DHCP status page. Only the laptop and the mobile have been assigned IPs. And yes both are on the same range 192.168.1.x. Earlier all 3 devices were listed on that page.
And yes finally I can ping the other devices on the network. This is the only good thing occured I guess.

Ok. Finallly got everything working. Laptop was able to join the Homegroup. Files are accessible. So the isolation option was the issue.
Though from the mobile it took a workaround as it was still not able to locate any devices. I am guessing that's because the network was private? I tried connecting by manually specifying the IP addresses and was able to connect to both desktop and the laptop.
Thanks a ton guys. Problem solved. 🙂
