Hello All,
I have a friend who stays in Mira Road & wants a Triband connection.
When enquired with MTNL about it they said she will have to take a landline (phone) connection too.
This dosen't make sense, why should i be compelled to buy the combo when i just want the triband connection?
Is this a requirement or just the MTNL reps wanting to meet their sales targets by forcing the combo upon new customers?

Your replies are Most Appreciated, Cheers! :thumbup1:

ok. i think this has been asked several times before. mtnl deliver broadband through a telephone line so you would have to take a telephone connection. now it is up to you if you want to connect a telephone instrument to that line. no one would force you to do that. you get a telephone connection with a landline number that you do not have to use but it is needed for the broadband to enter your home because the connection requires a wire to come to your place.

Gentlemen,
I appreciate your answers, i've been a loyal MTNL Triband user for over 6 years until i had to shift residence from Andheri to Mira Rd temporarily & therefore have been forced to get a local/unreliable cablewala inturrnut coneksun 😛irate: as MTNL dosent have wires up to my building complex just yet.
Obviously i need a wire to link me to the web, my only question was/is do i have to pay additional rent (combo plan) for a landline?
Can i not have just the triband/internet connection = Rs.550/- per month (+ tax) & NOT any additional bills for a landline/phone line which i do not need ?
Cheers :thumbup1:

AFAIK, the xpress unlimited plans have the same cost for combo and non combo with no difference in speeds or data.

http://mtnlmumbai.in/index.php/broadband-services/triband/unlimited-plans
Xpress+ Unlimited 699 = 2 Mbps upto 12 GB and 1 Mbps afterwards (with the landline)
DSL_Unlimited_550 = Upto 1 Mbps (7am - 7pm) & Upto 1.5 Mbps (7PM to 7AM)

the latter is more suited & cheaper albeit only by Rs. 149 but i have to buy a landline with it.
The same plan in combo config is:
DSL_Unlimited_650_Combo = Upto 1 Mbps = Upto 1 Mbps (7am - 7pm) & Upto 1.5 Mbps (7PM to 7AM)

so a minimum waste of 100 bucks (+Service Tax 12.36% extra) every month or Rs.1200 + Rs.148 every year for a landline connection which is never gonna be used :thinking:
